Dreamer Actress Thanks Fans in Supergirl Season 6 Filming Wrap Video

Dreamer actress Nicole Maines thanks Supergirl fans in a Twitter video as season 6 wraps filming. The star has been playing the role of Nia Nal and her superheroine alter-ego Dreamer in the CW show since the start of season 4. Originally introduced as one of Kara Danvers’ (Melissa Benoist) colleagues at CatCo Worldwide Media, viewers later find out that there is more to Nia than meets the eyes. After her mother’s death, Nia embraces her nature as half-Naltorian and the powers that come with it. She then becomes the superheroine known as Dreamer and assists Supergirl in the battle against the Children of Liberty, eventually joining the Superfriends.

While Supergirl has been bringing fans of the Arrowverse new and exciting adventures every week since its start in 2015, in September of 2020 it was announced that the sixth season would be the last. While no official reason was given for Supergirl‘s cancellation, declining viewership may have played a role since ratings dropped precipitously through Supergirl season 5. This last outing will consist of 20 episodes and started airing at the end of March of this year. Filming is currently in its final stages as many actors have already wrapped production on their characters.

In a recent video posted to her Twitter account, Maines shared a last glimpse of herself in the Dreamer character’s costume on the Supergirl set. In the short clip, she can be heard tearing up as she thanks fans for their support and salutes to the camera. “It’s a wrap on Dreamer. Thanks for having me. It’s been a dream,” says the actress.

Among other actors who took to social media to share their farewells were longtime J’onn J’onzz/Martian Manhunter actor David Harewood and Julie Gonzolo, who entered the show in season 5 as Obsidian Tech owner and CatCo editor-in-chief Andrea Rojas. In his tweet, Harewood shared a picture of himself during a costume fitting with the caption: “Thanks Mr Manhunter. That was fun.” Meanwhile, Gonzalo decided to post a mirror selfie from her trailer showing off her character’s sleek black costume, writing: “And that’s a wrap… thank you @TheCWSupergirl  for these last two years… what a beautiful journey.

While the caped heroine’s run is soon coming to an end, the spin-off series Superman & Lois only just debuted this year on the CW. This new outing for the Arrowverse follows Tyler Hoechlin’s Man of Steel – who first made an appearance on Supergirl in the season 2 premiere episode – and Elizabeth Tulloch’s Lois Lane – who was introduced in the 2018 Elseworlds crossover. Now, with their own show, the couple moved with their twin boys to Smallville, where business mogul Morgan Edge puts a threat to their peaceful lives, teasing a future to the Arrowverse after all.

Supergirl season 6 part 2 starts on The CW August 24.
