Dragon Ball’s Frieza & Jojo’s Dio Unite In Perfect Fan Game Cover

A video game fans didn’t know they needed just received an apparent release in the form of a fan art game cover featuring the infamous manga villains from both Dragon Ball and Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure, Frieza and Dio. Frieza is best known for destroying Planet Vegeta and using the remaining Saiyans as his personal soldiers to take over the universe, until he was stopped by Goku on Planet Namek. Dio was the main antagonist of Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure in both parts 1 and 3 of the manga series and wields a powerful Stand that rivals the strongest heroes of their world. These two villains joined forces on this fan game cover, but the apparent objective of the game is the last thing fans would expect.

Frieza made his first manga appearance in Dragon Ball Chapter 247: “Planet Namek, Cold and Dark” by Akira Toriyama. From that chapter forward, Frieza was the main villain of the Z-Fighters as he worked to collect all the Dragon Balls to make a wish to become immortal, but Frieza was seemingly killed by Goku at the end of the storyline. Dio made his first appearance in Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure: Phantom Blood #1 “Dio the Invader” by Hirohiko Araki. While a menacing threat right off the bat, Dio didn’t become a truly terrifying villain until he showed off the power of The World Stand. Both villains are incredibly powerful and only work to grow that power for the worst reasons, and now they are together on a fan-made video game cover.

In a Tweet by Twitter user Paul Johnson, the artist created a fake video game cover that advertised as being a game made by SEGA for the SEGA Saturn console. The cover features Frieza and Dio standing back-to-back, not in fighting positions as one would assume, but with the two villains each holding their own bowling balls. As fans take a closer look, they will see that the two are standing in a bowling alley which makes fans realize that this fake video game is a bowling game. Frieza and Dio are two of the most ferocious villains in manga history, so when they show up on the cover of a video game together it is reasonable to assume that there would be some action involved. However, the gameplay of this fake SEGA game is bowling with the two villains supposedly being just the skins a player could hypothetically use when knocking down virtual pins.

While neither have appeared in a bowling video game, and certainly not one together, both Frieza and Dio have been in their fair share of console games over the years. Frieza has been a playable character in nearly every single Dragon Ball video game since the first one came out, from the fan favorite Dragon Ball Z: Budokai 2 to the brand new Dragon Ball: The Breakers. Similarly, Dio has appeared in a number of Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure video games as well, from Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure: All Star Battle to Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure: Eyes of Heaven

The video game lineup for Frieza and Dio is impressive and while they are known for their fighting ability, it would be interesting to see them as they are depicted in this fan-made game cover. Playing as the intimidating characters in a lighthearted fashion sounds refreshing and would give fans a different way to see their favorite villains in action. Plus, bowling games are always fun and relaxing for players of any age, and this one would have had the added benefit of starring Frieza and Dio as playable characters. Dragon Ball’s Frieza and Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure’s Dio unite in a weirdly perfect fan game cover, giving fans a cruel taste of a fake video game they didn’t know they needed to play.
