Dragon Ball Super’s New Chapter Teases Series Will Continue After Toriyama

Dragon Ball Super’s New Chapter Teases Series Will Continue After Toriyama

Despite the heartbreaking death of Akira Toriyama, the Dragon Ball Super manga will continue at least for one more chapter, and a preview teases more of Ultra Instinct Goku and Beast Gohan’s anticipated sparring match. As the world mourns the tragic passing of Dragon Ball creator Akira Toriyama, his talented student and illustrator of the Dragon Ball Super manga, Toyotaro, continues his work in chapter #103.

The impact and legacy of Toriyama’s work helped shape countless artists across nearly every medium worldwide. Movies, anime, video games, comics, and manga would not be the same without Dragon Ball‘s inspiration. When the new manga for Dragon Ball Super began, the legendary artist entrusted the task of drawing the series to Toyotaro, who became famous for drawing a popular unofficial continuation of Dragon Ball Z called Dragon Ball AF.

Even though the talented artist is heartbroken by the loss of his mentor, as he shared in a brief but emotionally powerful message on X, he’s continuing his work on Dragon Ball Super‘s next chapter. A preview of Dragon Ball Super chapter #103 has been released and shared by the Dragon Ball Official website, showing Goku and Gohan continuing their fight. While it would be absolutely understandable for the mangaka to take some time off to emotionally recover from Toriyama’s loss, Toyotaro continues to draw Dragon Ball Super‘s next chapters.

Like Goku And Gohan, Toriyama Has Passed The Torch To Toyotaro

Dragon Ball Super could continue even after Toriyama’s death

The preview reveals the title of the chapter, which roughly translates as “Inheritance to the Future”. Fans can’t help but speculate if the final Dragon Ball Super manga chapter supervised by Toriyama may include a passing of the torch between Goku and his son Gohan, and also an indirect confirmation of Toyataro’s role as the Dragon Ball franchise’s successor. Toyotaro himself shared the preview on X, commenting with a cryptic message that draws attention to the chapter’s name.

When Dragon Ball Super chapter #103 releases on March 20, it will be an emotional experience, not only for fans but likely for Toyotaro himself. The successor of Akira Toriyama has been a massive fan of Dragon Ball since he was a child. His skills in capturing his mentor’s style elevated him to a position that eventually had him working closely with Toriyama, and the two worked together to keep the franchise alive. Now, Toyotaro has a chance to keep the story of Goku and Akira Toriyama’s legacy going.

Toyotaro Deserves Dragon Ball For His Hard Work

Toyotaro’s ideas and character designs have become more prevalent in Dragon Ball Super‘s creation, especially in arcs following the anime’s Tournament of Power. With the guidance of his mentor, Toyotaro has designed fascinating characters like Planet-Eater Moro and The Universe’s Strongest Avenger, Granolah. If Toriyama had not believed in his students’ abilities, the task of drawing Dragon Ball Super‘s manga would likely have fallen onto someone else.

There is no confirmation at this time of how long Dragon Ball Super will continue, and it’s still entirely possible that the series could shut down as a consequence of Toriyama’s passing. However, the release of Dragon Ball Super‘s chapter #103 – which is now confirmed to be the last in the Super Hero Arc – is a good sign that Toyotaro could do an excellent job keeping the franchise alive. While Toriyama’s unexpected and sad passing will undoubtedly affect how the Dragon Ball franchise will continue, Toyotaro is striving to keep Dragon Ball Super fans entertained in a way that would make his mentor proud.
