Dragon Ball Super Officially Confirms Gohan Beast is a Broly-Level Threat

Warning: Contains SPOILERS for Dragon Ball Super chapter 103! Broly has a reputation in the Dragon Ball fandom as being perhaps the most savagely powerful Saiyan in the history of the franchise, though all that just changed when he and Gohan went toe-to-toe in the latest chapter of Dragon Ball Super. Currently, the Z-Fighters are sizing-up exactly how powerful Gohan’s Beast Mode truly is through sparring and training sessions. When Gohan fought Broly, the true nature of his immense power was finally put on full display.

In Dragon Ball Super chapter 103 by Akira Toriyama and Toyotarou, Gohan is on Beerus’ planet with Goku, Vegeta, Broly, Trunks, and Goten, and he’s right in the middle of a sparring session with Goku. Goku wants to gauge Gohan Beast’s power level, as that transformation is one that seems to be unique to Gohan. Not Saiyans, not gods, just Gohan. After some time, Goku – channeling Ultra Instinct – is satisfied with what he learned about Gohan’s Beast Mode transformation, and decides to let another fighter challenge his son: Broly.

The entire time Goku was fighting Gohan, Broly was in awe of the level of power the two exhibited – especially Gohan. So, when Goku gave Broly the chance to fight this new challenger, he jumped at the opportunity. While the two started off in their base forms, Gohan and Broly quickly powered-up to Beast and Legendary, respectively. The brawl was quick but fierce, and proved without a shadow of a doubt that Gohan Beast is a Broly-level threat.

Dragon Ball Super’s Next Step After Reaching Z’s Ending Should Be to Remake GT

Dragon Ball Super is getting closer to the ‘End of Z’, meaning it will either mold into GT or replace it. Here’s why Super should commit to a remake!

Gohan Beast Helped Broly Learn to Control His Legendary Super Saiyan Rage

Goku, Vegeta, Beerus, and Whis explaining that Broly is now in control of his power thanks to Gohan.

Before this fight, Broly hadn’t really gotten the chance to spar with anyone, as he had yet to fully control himself when he unleashes his inner Legendary Super Saiyan. However, after watching Gohan fight Goku, and seeing how Gohan was able to maintain control over such a savage form as Beast, Broly was inspired. It seemed as though Broly didn’t see much difference between the Legendary Super Saiyan form and Gohan’s Beast Mode, so if Gohan could control himself, then Broly could, too.

Not only was the fight between them insanely epic, but it was also a pivotal moment in Broly’s character development. Broly is now one step closer to fully controlling his terrifying power, and once he’s able to do so on a regular basis, then Broly will truly be an asset to the other Z-Fighters when the time finally comes to challenge Black Frieza and defeat the universal villain once and for all.

Gohan Redeems Himself Following His Last Fight with Broly in DBZ

Dragon Ball Z: Broly – Second Coming

The reason many Dragon Ball Z fans immediately assume Broly is the end-all-be-all in terms of raw strength is due to his original trilogy of films. While non-canon, those movies showed Broly absolutely dominating every one-on-one battle he engaged in, including one against Gohan. In Dragon Ball Z: Broly – Second Coming, Gohan gets utterly destroyed by Broly in their one-on-one fight. While Gohan tries to use his brains to lure Broly into a river of lava (which technically works), that doesn’t stop Broly for long, as he returns with even more ferocious strength than before.

While Gohan’s last fight against Broly didn’t exactly go in his favor (despite the fact that Broly was ultimately defeated in the end), Gohan absolutely made up for it with this one. Not only that, but by fighting him, Gohan actively helped Broly learn to control his own immense power. But, more than anything, this fight in Dragon Ball Super officially confirms that Gohan Beast is a Broly-level threat.
