Dragon Ball Daima Can Surpass Super & GT & Its Trailers Prove it

Dragon Ball Daima has been contentious among fans since it was first announced. Not only was it an original series as opposed to a continuation of Dragon Ball Super, but the premise of everyone being turned into children immediately drew comparisons to the highly-maligned Dragon Ball GT, so despite not being out yet, it’s been hard for the series to justify its existence for many people.

However, despite the controversy surrounding it, there’s plenty of reason to be excited about Dragon Ball Daima. Having a new Dragon Ball project, in general, is plenty exciting on its own, but beyond that, both of the new trailers have shown off a lot in the visual and narrative aspects that are bound to make Daima a breath of fresh air for the franchise.

Because of that, Dragon Ball Daima could be better than both Dragon Ball GT and Dragon Ball Super, and it would be great to see how that plays out once it finally premieres.

Dragon Ball Daima Might Have The Best Visuals Of Any Dragon Ball Anime

The first major way in which Dragon Ball Daima can surpass Dragon Ball Super and Dragon Ball GT is with its visuals. Super and GT had inconsistent and often rough art and animation throughout their runs, and that’s always been a hard negative against both of them. With Dragon Ball Daima, however, both trailers have shown off consistently great art and animation on the level of a movie; that suggests that Daima will have more consistent and all-around good visuals than its predecessors, and if so, that will go a long way toward making it the best of the three.

Dragon Ball Daima’s Story Brings Dragon Ball Back To Its Roots

Another thing that Dragon Ball Daima will have over Dragon Ball Super and Dragon Ball GT is its story. Both Super and GT doubled down on Dragon Ball Z’s sci-fi elements, and that resulted in a lot of repetitiveness both in comparison to one another and within their narratives. By comparison, Dragon Ball Daima’s trailers show that the series will bring back the fantasy elements of the early years of the franchise through its setting and the people Goku interacts with, and bringing the story back to its roots like that can make things feel fresh after Super and GT.

That idea of Dragon Ball Daima bringing things back to its roots can also be seen in the action. Dragon Ball Daima appears to be abandoning the transformations and Earth-shattering fistfights that have become staples of the franchise and leaning more into the martial arts elements of the early years, and that’s a welcome change of pace from Dragon Ball’s constant escalation. That sort of writing, combined with stellar art and animation, gives Dragon Ball Daima a great shot at surpassing Dragon Ball Super and Dragon Ball GT, and it will be great to see all of that play out.
