Dr. Disrespect Signs With Twitch In The Most Doc Way Possible

Streamer Dr. Disrespect has announced that he will sign with Twitch with a hilarious new advertisement for the streaming service. Dr. Disrespect has been working on Twitch since its inception and people tune in for his erratic and joking attempts to play games like PUBG and Apex Legends.

Dr. Disrespect earned his following on Twitch by streaming both H1Z1 and PUBG. After rising to internet stardom in 2017, he briefly took a hiatus to focus on his relationship. His return to the streaming service two months later broke the record for most concurrent viewers. Dr. Disrespect has managed to garner some controversy over the course of his career though. During E3 2019, he livestreamed from within a bathroom and got his Twitch account suspended. This did not last very long and the streamer was back to work a few short weeks later. Dr. Disrespect has stuck to the platform ever since.

Dr. Disrespect announced on Twitter today that he would be signing a deal with Twitch, but he did so in a way that is very much in line with his internet personality. He posted a video that features him in a flying vehicle with several soldiers. After the soldiers laugh at his background as a gamer, Dr. Disrespect launches into a long soliloquy. After this receives more laughs, the streamer proceeds to jump out the windshield and fly to a giant Twitch logo.

This announcement comes at a time when many streamers have abandoned Twitch for other platforms like Mixer and Facebook Gaming. The most prominent example was when Ninja switched to Mixer and reportedly made $20-30 million off of his new contract. Other top streamers like Shroud have switched platforms in the last year as well. Dr. Disrespect has remained adamant that Twitch is the best place for a streamer. He even criticized Ninja’s decision to switch platforms, stating that Mixer gave him a really bad deal.

Dr. Disrespect has been a staple of Twitch for a long time now, and with the amount of streamers who have jumped ship, the platform needs to hold on to a familiar face. His antics and high energy bring fans in droves to Twitch, so it makes sense that the company wants to keep Dr. Disrespect around. Dr. Disrespect has always referred to himself as the “face of Twitch”, and at this point that may very well be true.
