Doom Patrol Season 2 Photos Reveal Weird New Villain Dr. Tyme

New photos from DC Universe’s Doom Patrol season 2 reveal the team is about to face off against Dr. Tyme. With season 2 right around the corner, Dr. Tyme is another welcome surprise for a show known for its colorful cast of heroes and villains. Tyme will be joined by other new bad guys like The Candlemaker and Red Jack. The Doom Patrol won’t be short handed, though, as a new team member will be joining their ranks as well.

Premiering in 2019, Doom Patrol is DC Universe’s second live-action show. The show focuses on a group of people who had all gone through traumatic experiences, but have also gained super human abilities as a result. As the group bonds, they deal with their tragic pasts and threats from around the world. Doom Patrol features a team of talented actors including Brendan Fraser and Timothy Dalton, as well Alan Tudyk as the supervillain, Mr. Nobody. Doom Patrol season 1 was well received by critics and fans alike for its quirky characters and creative encounters, and during last year’s San Diego Comic Con, DC announced Doom Patrol season 2 would release on both DC Universe and HBO Max.

DC Universe (via CBR) has revealed new photos from the upcoming Doom Patrol season 2 episode “Tyme Patrol”. The photos show a green and blue clad Doctor Tyme on what appears to be a dance floor. Photos also show him facing off against at least Cliff, Jane, and Rita. Check out the new Doom Patrol images of Dr. Thyme as well as the episode’s synopsis, below.

Cliff, Jane, and Rita pursue Dr. Tyme (guest star Brandon Perea) – and his time-altering space mineral – in their reluctant quest to help Niles and Dorothy. At a support group, Vic meets Roni (guest star Karen Obilom), a feisty military vet who challenges his beliefs. And Larry comes face-to-face with his past at a funeral.

Harry Jierjian directed the episode which is written by April Fitzsimmons and Neil Reynolds. Guest stars in the episode include Abigail Shapiro as Dorothy Spinnor, John Getz as Paul Trainor, Karen Obilom as Roni Evers, Brandon Perea as Dr. Jonathan Tyme, and Mark Ashworth as Rupert.

Originally appearing in 1964, Dr. Tyme has been a long standing rival of the Doom Patrol. As the name implies, Tyme has the ability to manipulate time, which means Doom Patrol season 2 could include some very unique and mind-bending battle sequences. While being a genius, Dr. Tyme mostly uses his great power to commit small crimes like petty theft. Using the photos as a clue, it seems that the TV show’s version of Dr. Tyme will be staying close to his comics counterpart. One of Doom Patrol‘s greatest strengths last season was how it was able to balance its zany cast of characters with a strong story, so fans can expect Dr. Tyme, possibly their weirdest looking character yet, to be used similarly.

The season 1 finale left a good amount of plot points up in the air, and while fans may have an idea of what to expect in Doom Patrol season 2, the show could easily throw another curveball. As these questions begin to be answered, it will be interesting to see if DC can maintain their level of quality and avoid the dreaded sophomore slump that some shows go through when Doom Patrol season 2 premieres June 25. For now though, fans will likely enjoy getting to see if the Doom Patrol can put Dr. Tyme in time out.
