He played an important role in Perrin’s journey as a wolfbrother, and in the end, gave his life for his friend. However, Hopper could return in Wheel of Time season 3.
Why Hopper Will Most Likely Return In Wheel Of Time Season 3
While Hopper’s death was a tragic moment in Wheel of Time, this won’t be the last time he appears in the show. According to Robert Jordan’s books, after Hopper gets killed saving Perrin, he enters Tel’aran’rhiod. This is the dream world that Wheel of Time season 2 has already begun to set up. Unsurprisingly, Hopper continues to protect Perrin when he himself enters Tel’aran’rhiod, saving him when he accidentally walks into a meeting with the Forsaken and aiding him in saving Faile in Tel’aran’rhiod. Ultimately, Hopper plays a significant role even after his death when he begins training Perrin to fight against Slayer.
Though Amazon Prime Video’s Wheel of Time could potentially throw away this afterlife arc, it doesn’t seem to be going that way. First and foremost, Hopper’s season 2 death aligns perfectly with the plot of the books, which implies that the next phase of his story will likely take place on-screen as well. This is especially true since Wheel of Time season 2 has already begun setting up Tel’aran’rhiod, which is where Hopper will be next. Additionally, during Hopper’s death in Wheel of Time season 2, Perrin sees an outline of Hopper ascending from his own body, which could be hinting at his travel to Tel’aran’rhiod.
Why Hopper Is So Important To Perrin’s Future
Though Hopper may seem like nothing more than a loyal friend to Perrin, he actually plays an incredibly significant role in Perrin’s future. Without Hopper, Perrin would likely be dead on more than one occasion. But more than that, Hopper prepares Perrin for the most important fight of his life against the Slayer. Hopper’s tutelage and his wolf knowledge is integral to Perrin’s growth, and at the end of the day, he is the reason that Perrin becomes who he is. In this way, Hopper must return in Wheel of Time season 3 so that he can lead Perrin on the next part of his journey.
