Dolph Lundgren Opens Up On Being “Disappointed” At Aquaman 2’s Reshoots And The “Corporate Decision” To Reduce Amber Heard’s Role

Dolph Lundgren, who played Mera’s father, Nereus, in Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom, has spoken about his perspective on the movie, expressing disappointment about the significant changes the actor feels were made to the film, including Amber Heard’s DCEU role being reduced, which affected his storyline.

In a recent interview with Comic Book, Lundgren got candid about the theatrical version of Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom and his thoughts on it. Not only did Lundgren praise the original director’s cut, but he also spoke about how Heard’s Mera getting fewer scenes in the sequel affected the story of Nereus, stating the following:

I just realized that it was some kind of corporate decision that they try to limit Amber Heard and then I’m playing with her dad and went along with it. I was just disappointed for the moviegoers, because I thought the original script was great and the original cut — I saw a little bit of it, it was really good, so I didn’t see any reason to start reshooting and reshaping the story, which obviously led to disappointment in the moviegoers and not just me.
