Dog the Bounty Hunter Checked Himself Out of Hospital After Heart Scare ‘Against Medical Advice’

It was revealed on Dr. Oz that star of Dog’s Most Wanted Duane “Dog” Chapman, aka Dog the Bounty Hunter had checked himself out of the hospital after a heart scare. The doctor revealed that he had done so “against medical advice,” putting him in a very dangerous position regarding his health.

It’s been one of the hardest years of the bounty hunter’s life, after the recent passing of his wife of 13 years, Beth Chapman, he’s been struggling both mentally and physically. His beloved wife, Beth passed away at the age of 51 after fighting a long and painful battle with stage 4 throat cancer.  Beth passed away at 5:32 am on June 26th in Hawaii. Dog has been mourning the loss of his wife and is clearly shaken up by the changes that he revealed previously that he would never remarry. While mourning the loss of his wife, he had his own health scare that landed him in the hospital with heart attack-like symptoms. After checking himself out of the hospital after receiving a pulmonary embolism diagnosis., he told fans that there was nothing to worry about and it was just a case of a broken heart.

After hearing of Dog’s diagnosis, Dr. Oz, who had spoken with Dog just a few weeks prior on his TV show, Dr. Oz, and made a house call to the bounty hunter to give him support and advice. The doctor went through his records while at his home in Denver, revealing a shocking revelation – that he had checked himself out of the hospital “against medical advice,” leaving Dr. Oz with plenty of questions as to why Dog would put himself at so much risk. By leaving the hospital, Dog refused tests that could be life-saving. The TV doctor then went on to examine Dog’s health and revealed that his blood pressure was extremely high and he insisted that Dog goes back to the hospital to get tests done.

Dog had previously revealed in another interview that he felt that the hospital staff was rude and he didn’t feel comfortable being there and that’s why he decided to check himself out, but when asked by Dr. Oz, Dog replied, “The truth. I got scared.” After having dreams of seeing his late-wife, Beth in heaven, he didn’t want to be apart from her. The doctor convinced Dog to go back to the hospital for tests, for a cardiac catheterization procedure to see if there were any blockages in his heart. As it turns out, his heart is healthy, but the doctor at the hospital advised that he needs to make some lifestyle changes – to quit smoking.

Dog revealed to Dr. Oz that he had promised Beth that he would quit smoking, but after she passed, he explained how difficult it was for him to quit. Now that Dog has a clean bill of health for his heart, he now has to find the courage to take care of himself so that he can be around to catch America’s toughest criminals.
