Does The Galaxy Z Flip 4 Come With A Charger? What You Need To Know

Samsung’s Galaxy Z Flip 4 is one of the most exciting new folding smartphones in the market, but does it come with a charger in the box? Following weeks of leaks, rumors and speculations, Samsung unveiled the Galaxy Z Flip 4 in August alongside the Z Fold 4, the Galaxy Watch 5-Series, and the Galaxy Buds 2 Pro. The Z Flip 4 is an upgrade over last year’s Z Flip 3 and comes with a clam-shell form-factor as opposed to the Z Fold 4, which unfolds into a tablet.

Foldables remain a niche segment of the smartphone market, but they are becoming more popular with every passing year. Alongside Samsung, a number of other manufacturers have also jumped on the bandwagon and have released multiple folding devices of their own. That includes Chinese OEMs like Huawei, Xiaomi, Oppo, and Motorola, among others. Motorola’s latest foldable is the Moto Razr 2022 that was unveiled the very next day after Samsung announced the Z Flip 4. The all-new Razr ships with high-end hardware like the Flip 4, but has a slightly lower price-tag.

The Galaxy Z Flip 4 comes with all the hardware and software features that one can possibly ask for in a foldable as of 2022, but in keeping with the recent trend for premium smartphones, Samsung isn’t including a charger in the retail box. That means Galaxy Z Flip 4 users will have to either use an old charger or buy a new one separately.

The Z Flip 4 supports up to 25W wired charging and 10W wireless charging, meaning users will have to ensure that they use a charger with supported specs to take advantage of the full charging speeds. Buyers planning to get a new charger for the Z Flip 4 should also note that the device ships with a USB-C to USB-C cable in the box, meaning it will require a charger that has a USB-C port with at least 25W output. Some chargers with a USB-A port should also be compatible, but will require an additional USB-C to USB-A adapter.

Apple was the first company that stopped shipping chargers with smartphones. The iPhone 12-series was the first to not include an in-box charger, and subsequent iPhones have also given the charging adapter a miss. Android OEMs initially made fun of Apple for its decision, but soon started following the trend. As things stand now, shipping a charger with a smartphone has almost gone out of fashion, meaning very few smartphones actually come with an in-box charging adapter. Samsung’s Galaxy Z Flip 4 is no exception.
