The Deadpool 3 synopsis recently surfaced, and while it is rather brief, it offers hints about what the MCU movie is about. The first official Deadpool 3 synopsis was shared by Japan’s Marvel website, and reads, “The irresponsible hero Deadpool will change the history of the MCU with Wolverine!?” It’s been known since the movie was announced that Ryan Reynolds’ Deadpool and Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine would be teaming up for some kind of adventure in the MCU. However, the phrase “change the history of the MCU” has many people guessing what will happen in the film.

There have been many rumors about who will appear in the Deadpool 3 cast and these rumors mainly involve Fox X-Men characters, such as Patrick Stewart’s Professor X and Ian McKellen’s Magneto. Additionally, other Fox Marvel characters like Jennifer Garner’s Elektra are also rumored to make appearances. These rumors, and several set photos, have led to a popular theory that would explain the Fox characters returning. The synopsis for Deadpool 3 didn’t confirm or deny this theory, so it could still be possible.

Deadpool 3’s Synopsis Doesn’t Confirm Or Disprove Popular Theory

The most popular theory for the Deadpool 3 story is “Deadpool Kills the Fox Universe.” It comes from a Deadpool comic book series called Deadpool Kills the Marvel Universe, where Wade Wilson loses his mind and kills every superhero and supervillain in the Marvel Universe. The theory gained traction after set photos leaked of Jackman and Reynolds fighting in front of a giant, destroyed 20th Century Fox logo, suggesting Wade was killing off the Fox universe before joining the MCU. Deadpool 3‘s synopsis doesn’t kill this theory, but it doesn’t support it either.

Since the Marvel multiverse is considered canon within the MCU, Wolverine, and Deadpool killing off the Fox universe could still change the history of the MCU as events in one universe can affect another. Then again, most of the film could be set in the MCU, and it may not involve Deadpool killing any of the Fox characters. Still, this will be some sort of multiverse adventure, since Wade and Logan have to get to the MCU somehow. Monica Rambeau just appeared alongside Kelsey Grammer’s Beast in The Marvels, so a gateway between the Fox and Disney universes exists.

How Deadpool 3 Can Still Adapt Deadpool Kills The Marvel Universe

Since Avengers: Secret Wars is coming up, there is likely going to be an incursion that brings the Marvel and Fox universes together. Deadpool 3 could be about the Fox universe crumbling due to an incursion, and Deadpool and Wolverine need to fight their way out by killing their way through the Fox universe. This would be the perfect opportunity for fan-favorite characters to return, with Deadpool and Logan dispatching them in hilarious and violent ways.

The way this would change the MCU is that Deadpool and Wolverine would join the MCU, and introduce the X-Men into this universe. The MCU has mentioned mutants, but it hasn’t officially set up a team. Since The Fantastic Four also exist in the Fox universe, Deadpool could mention them to someone, bringing the iconic group out of hiding. There are a lot of possibilities for this theory, but more details will be released as the Deadpool 3 release date gets closer.
