Does Aladdin 2019 Have A Post-Credits Scene?

Disney’s Aladdin (2019) is the latest of the Mouse House’s live-action reimaginings, and we reveal whether it has a post-credits scene. Over the last few years, Walt Disney Studios has dipped into its library of animated classics for new adaptations of beloved fairy tales and legends. The studio has had a great deal of success with their live-action Cinderella, Beauty and the Beast and The Jungle Book movies, which stick exceptionally close to their original animated counterparts. The latest of these is Aladdin, from director Guy Ritchie.

Aladdin adapts the story of the 1992 animated movie, which sees the titular street rat Aladdin (Mena Massoud) get caught up in an evil plot concocted by the sultan’s royal vizier Jafar (Marwan Kenzari). When Jafar’s plans for Aladdin go awry, the thief winds up with a magical lamp and the power of a Genie (Will Smith) at his fingertips. Using the Genie’s magic, Aladdin becomes a prince in order to woo Princess Jasmine (Naomi Scott). The early reactions to Aladdin were largely positive, though the full Aladdin reviews were slightly less favorable to Disney’s live-action remake.

Now, with Aladdin hitting theaters around the world and giving fans young and old the chance to see Ritchie’s reimagining for themselves, moviegoers may be wondering whether they need to stick around for a possible extra scene after the credits. Aladdin (2019) does NOT have a post-credits scene, nor does it include any other ending teases or Easter eggs for Disney fans. While the credits are always worth watching to appreciate all those who are involved in the making of the movie – and Aladdin features a rendition of “Friend Like Me” from Smith and DJ Khaled, as well as a pop cover of “A Whole New World” by Zayn and Zhavia Ward – there aren’t any extra scenes or teases after the credits.

Does Aladdin 2019 Have A Post-Credits Scene?

It makes sense for Aladdin not to include a post-credits scene, as Disney doesn’t typically release its live-action remakes as franchise starters. Certainly, the original animated movie had two direct-to-video sequels, The Return of Jafar and Aladdin and the King of Thieves, and there is room within Disney’s remake to explore some similar storylines if the studio does decide to move forward with a follow-up. However, Disney’s live-action retellings have largely been standalone, with the exceptions of The Jungle Book getting a sequel and Maleficent: Mistress of Evil following the Sleeping Beauty reimagining Maleficent. It remains to be seen if Aladdin will stay a standalone film as well or if it’s successful enough to warrant a sequel.

Still, a post-credits scene doesn’t necessarily need to set up a sequel. The live-action Dumbo post-credits audio cue was a nod to the original animated movie, while other Disney animated films have simply had additional comedic scenes as post-credits stingers. But that isn’t the case for Aladdin, which spotlights music during the credits and doesn’t have anything after the credits finish. So, those checking out the movie in theaters need not worry about sticking around for an Aladdin post-credits scene.
