Doctor Who Gets Animation-Style Poster For The Giggle Featuring The Toymakers Games

Doctor Who Gets Animation-Style Poster For The Giggle Featuring The Toymakers Games

Doctor Who‘s 60th anniversary special “The Giggle” has gotten an animation-style poster, showcasing the Toymaker pulling the strings in his game. The latest episodes of the series saw the villain return after 57 years, having previously appeared as an antagonist for the First Doctor. His resurgence involved dangerous games with the Fourteenth Doctor that would determine which of the powerful beings would come out on top.

Now, blufruity has drawn an animation-style poster for Doctor Who‘s “The Giggle” featuring the Toymaker’s games.

The poster sees the villain puppeting the Fourteenth Doctor and Donna Noble, both of whom are caught in his game. The image reflects how dangerous the antagonist was throughout the episodes.

Could The Toymaker Return In Later Doctor Who Seasons?

The Doctor Who 60th anniversary specials ended with the Toymaker shooting the Fourteenth Doctor with a weapon that caused him to bi-generate. This meant him and the Fifteenth Doctor were able to exist at the same time, taking down the villain together by banishing him to his own dimension. However, the returning antagonist promised that beings similar to him would be coming after them for revenge in the future.

It appears the Toymaker’s threats were not empty, as showrunner Russell T. Davies later confirmed his minions would appear in the future. As for the villain himself, it doesn’t seem like he’ll be making a return to torment the Doctor anytime soon. This is because he’s been exiled from reality, likely unable to directly interact with anything that he isn’t able to create. This includes Earth and the core reality therein, which probably won’t come under his threat again.

However, just because he’s gone for now doesn’t mean Doctor Who season 14 won’t establish a way to bring the villain back. Perhaps those who are coming to avenge the Toymaker will find a way to bring him back to reality, giving him another chance at defeating the Doctors. Whether or not he returns, though, the antagonist has left his mark on the franchise and possibly opened the door to similar threats later down the road.

Doctor Who

Originally premiered in 1963, Doctor Who is a sci-fi series that follows a powerful being known as a Time Lord, referred to as the Doctor. Using an interdimensional time-traveling ship known as the TARDIS, the Doctor travels time and space with various companions as they solve multiple problems and help avert catastrophe as much as they almost cause it. Though the Doctor is always the same character, they experience regenerations, allowing them to be recast every few seasons as a unique immortal being with new personality traits.
