Avengers: The Kang Dynasty has undergone some major changes since Jonathan Majors was arrested on assault allegations in March 2023. While Marvel Studios neglected to provide an official comment on Majors’ status in the MCU before a final verdict was revealed in December 2023, Majors has now been fired from Marvel Studios due to his conviction on two misdemeanor counts of harassment and assault. Prior to this, director Destin Daniel Cretton and writer Jeff Loveness exited the production of Avengers: The Kang Dynasty, hinting at the project undergoing huge changes even before Majors’ conviction, but Marvel Studios hasn’t actually revealed anything new about the Phase 6 movie.

Kang the Conqueror and the Council of Kangs were billed as the major threats of Avengers: The Kang Dynasty, but since Marvel Studios is suspected to be moving away from Kang, it’s possible a new villain will take his place. A recent report by The Hollywood Reporter even suggests that Marvel Studios executives have been referring to the project as Avengers 5 internally, dropping The Kang Dynasty from the title completely, though this hasn’t been confirmed. Michael Waldron, who worked on Loki and Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, is attached to Avengers: The Kang Dynasty as the new writer, so it’s possible new information will be revealed soon.
