Doctor Doom Replaces Kang As Avengers: Secret Wars’ Villain In Stunning Fan Poster

An exciting new Avengers: Secret Wars fan poster swaps out Kang the Conqueror for Doctor Doom. The Marvel Cinematic Universe is in the middle of the Multiverse Saga, with multiple variants of Jonathan Majors’ Kang posing a major threat to the multiverse. With Avengers: Secret Wars‘ story set to end the Multiverse Saga, Kang is expected to be the film’s main villain, but that might not be set in stone.

On Instagram, digital artist @agtdesign imagined Doctor Doom in Kang’s place as Avengers: Secret Wars‘ villain.

The fan poster includes several MCU heroes like Spider-Man, Doctor Strange, and Captain Marvel, with multiverse heroes such as Robert Downey Jr. as a version of Superior Iron Man, and Doctor Doom as the villain of Avengers: Secret Wars. Recently, a comprehensive MCU report revealed that Marvel considered Doctor Doom as Kang’s replacement after Majors’ arrest, though that did not happen.

Could Doctor Doom Be Avengers: Secret Wars’ Main Villain?

Doctor Doom shares a major connection to the stories that inspired Avengers: Secret Wars‘ title, playing a key role in the 2015 version of the comic book event that should be the one to impact the upcoming movie the most. In 2015’s Secret Wars, Doom emerges as the one to first reshape reality, becoming God Emperor Doom and ruling over his multiversal kingdom, Battleworld. Based on his connection to the comic book story, in which he was the main foe, Doom could have been planned as the villain of 2027’s Avengers: Secret Wars all along.

While the recent report of Marvel considering Doom as a replacement for Kang due to the Majors’ legal situation makes it seem like the studios dropped the idea, Kang might never have been Avengers: Secret Wars‘ main villain. Besides Doom having a major connection to 2015’s Secret Wars, Avengers: The Kang Dynasty will already include a major battle between Earth’s Mightiest Heroes and several Kang variants. The movie could finish Kang’s story, perhaps with Doom killing him like he did Thanos in the Marvel Comics event and becoming the main villain of Avengers: Secret Wars.

Doom was already a likely name to debut in the Multiverse Saga, with or without the rumors that Marvel considered him as a Kang replacement. Doctor Doom has appeared in every Fantastic Four movie so far, and with the MCU’s debut of the team coming in 2025’s Fantastic Four, there is a high chance that Doom will be present, even if he is not the main villain. Doom could then become the main villain of Avengers: Secret Wars, playing the same role he did in the 2015 Marvel Comics event.
