A classic Disney character will finally have his Marvel debut, now that Uncle $crooge and the Infinity Dime #1 has been announced. Centered on the titular character, this one-shot will bring several artists together for a new story involving the richest character in comics. This special will combine fan-favorite Marvel elements with the types of adventure Scrooge McDuck is best known for.
According to Marvel, the creative team for the one-shot includes Jason Aaron, Paolo Mottura, Francesco D’ippolito, Vitale Mangiatordi, and others. There will be covers from Lorenzo Pastrovicchio and Alex Ross. The special will also include appearances from other familiar Disney characters including Huey, Duey, Louie, Donald Duck, and Gyro Gearloose.
This won’t be the first time Marvel delves into telling Disney stories in comics, as the company has published several titles inspired by Disney Park attractions. However, it will be the first time that one of the Walt Disney Company’s main characters will be the central focus of original storytelling by the publisher.

Disney’s Newest Comic Includes Scrooge McDuck’s Classic Comic Debut
Uncle Scrooge’s newest comic adventure is set to release June 19. This will be a historic Marvel comic, marking the titular hero’s debut with the comic publisher. The issue will also include a reprint of Christmas on Bear Mountain inside, which was Scrooge McDuck’s debut from Carl Barks. Scrooge is the most popular character to have a comic debut before an animated one. The synopsis is as follows:
UNCLE $CROOGE AND THE INFINITY DIME #1 will see Scrooge embark on a time-honored Marvel adventure as he explores the Multiverse to stop a twisted alternate Scrooge from becoming the all-powerful and incomprehensibly rich Scrooge-Above-All! Along the way, the story will introduce exciting new takes on the iconic tycoon with a heart of gold and feature appearances by Scrooge’s nephew, Donald Duck; grandnephews, Huey, Duey, and Louie; and his supporting cast of characters, including Gyro Gearloose!
It’s the story you never expected! One of the greatest characters in the history of comics leaps into his most epic adventure yet, in the manner only Marvel can deliver! When Uncle Scrooge’s fabled money bin gets stolen by a shocking culprit, the world’s toughest duck must undertake a quest unlike any other, alongside a surprising array of allies: other versions of himself!
The announcement includes a note from Marvel stating that Scrooge is “the perfect candidate to headline Marvel Comic’s first foray into the imagination of Disney’s comic books” and that the character is entering an “exciting new era.” This makes it seem possible that Uncle Scrooge could have more comic offerings yet to come – likely dependent on the interest and success of this upcoming one-shot. Given a resurgence in Disney comics as of late, it seems likely that Marvel could want to expand into the market of its parent companies’ comic stories.
Uncle Scrooge Could Mark A Beginning For Marvel Expansion
Recently, Dynamite Comics began publishing several Disney series. These have ranged from villan-centric original stories to sequels for classic animated films. TokyoPop has similarly been releasing Disney-inspired manga titles for several years. Now, Marvel could be getting in on the magic with Scrooge McDuck leading the way.
