Disney’s Mufasa: The Lion King pushes its release date to later next year. The production giant last put out a Lion King movie in 2019, with the CGI remake of the animated original. Mufasa: The Lion King is slated to be a prequel to this version of The Lion King, exploring the life of Simba’s father.
As per Variety, Disney has pushed its Mufasa: The Lion King release date as part of broader schedule shuffling. Originally supposed to release on July 5, 2024, the film will now hit theaters on December 20, 2024.
