Disney+’s Daredevil: 10 MCU Characters That Should Show Up In The Series

Disney+’s Daredevil: 10 MCU Characters That Should Show Up In The Series

At long last, Marvel Studios has finally announced that Daredevil will be revived on Disney+. Years after its three-season run on Netflix was cut short, the fan-favorite series, following the titular Man Without Fear, will finally see Charlie Cox reprise his role as Matt Murdock as he tries to defend New York once again from the darkness that threatens to take over the city.

The fourth season of Daredevil will be unique as this will be the first time the show will be directly tied to the larger MCU. While the series had always been considered a part of the universe, it was always contained in its very own unique corner of the franchise, limited in its tie-ins. Now, with the series being produced by Marvel Studios, the door is open for some very exciting MCU guest stars that will hopefully help the lawyer protect his city.

Moon Knight

Disney+’s Daredevil: 10 MCU Characters That Should Show Up In The Series

Moon Knight made his MCU debut in March with his very own six-episode Disney+ series, with Oscar Isaac in the lead role. The relatively obscure superhero quickly made his way into the hearts of Marvel fans, who are anxious to see the Fist of Khonshu return to the franchise in the near future.

Both Moon Knight and Daredevil are street-level vigilantes, whose methods are typically not lethal but are certainly quite painful for their victims. As two of the grittiest heroes in the MCU, a team-up between the two could make for a heart-pounding fourth season of Daredevil.

Blade

How the MCU can introduce Blade mahershala ali

Blade the Vampire Hunter is an extremely important facet of Marvel’s cinematic history and will be rebooted for the Marvel Cinematic Universe (where he will be portrayed by Oscar-winner Mahershala Ali). While Ali has yet to fully appear in an MCU project, he did make an auditory cameo in the post-credit scene of Eternals.

Numerous fan theories have been swirling about Blade’s role in the MCU, with many wondering if the Daywalker might be gathering his very own team therein, consisting of some of the darker heroes within the franchise (such as Moon Knight and Kit Harrington’s Black Knight). If this is the case, Daredevil would make a perfect addition to the team, while also providing the ideal platform to introduce the concept in full.

John Walker

John Walker in his U.S. Agent uniform in The Falcon and the Winter Soldier

Wyatt Russell joined the MCU last summer as John Walker in The Falcon and the Winter Soldier. Walker served as the U.S. government’s replacement for Steve Rogers as Captain America, only for the title to be stripped from him after a public incident. Now, the character has been dubbed the U.S. Agent, indicating that the MCU may be building up to a Thunderbolts lineup for the MCU.

John Walker has yet to try out his new vigilante identity, meaning that audiences aren’t entirely sure which side of the law he will fall on or when he will finally make his first move as U.S. Agent. Daredevil season 4 could be the perfect time to reintroduce the morally ambiguous super-soldier, finally showing audiences what his future in the MCU might look like.

Taskmaster

Taskmaster Unmasked in Black Widow

Black Widow divided Marvel fans in its depiction of the iconic comic villain Taskmaster, who was revealed to be Antonia Dreykov, the daughter of General Dreykov (the head over the Red Room). While not all fans were pleased with this take on the character, she did survive the events of the film, leaving many to wonder where Taskmaster might show up next in the MCU.

Taskmaster has always been one of Daredevil’s greatest foes in the comics, with the villain’s photographic reflexes making them a worthy adversary for the Man Without Fear. While the MCU’s version of the character may be destined for a more heroic fate, fans are still dying to see a hand-to-hand fight between her and Daredevil.

Nick Fury

Nick Fury in The Avengers

Samuel L. Jackson’s Nick Fury has been an integral part of the MCU since the very beginning. He is the character with the most appearances throughout the franchise, who seems poised to continue playing an important role in the universe’s future (particularly in his upcoming series Secret Invasion).

Since the very beginning of the MCU, Nick Fury has been the character to bring various superheroes together. It would only be fitting for the former director of S.H.I.E.L.D. to do the same for Daredevil, who still remains to be introduced to the vast majority of other heroes in his world.

Kate Bishop

Kate Bishop fighting at Christmas in Hawkeye

With Hawkeye aiming to retire from the superhero business, his replacement, Kate Bishop, is poised to take his place as the MCU’s resident expert archer. Making her debut in the Hawkeye Disney+ series, Kate’s time as a superhero is only beginning.

Given that both Daredevil and Kate Bishop are relatively grounded heroes in comparison to the other Avengers permeating the MCU, the two could actually make a worthy pair when it comes to crime-fighting. With both based in New York City, such a meeting would be more likely than most.

Echo

Alaqua Cox in Echo

After making her debut in Hawkeye, Alaqua Cox’s Maya Lopez, otherwise known as Echo, is receiving her very own spinoff series, where she will presumably continue her quest for vengeance against her father’s killer, Wilson Fisk. Echo, which entered production earlier this week, will likely premiere in early 2023.

For the MCU’s Echo, a team-up with Daredevil seems inevitable. Both have made themselves enemies of Wilson Fisk, who has personally vowed to ruin each of their lives. If Daredevil doesn’t himself make an appearance in Echo, then viewers can rest assured that she will show up at some point in the next season of his series.

Bucky Barnes

Sebastian Stan as Bucky Barnes

Sebastian Stan’s James Buchanan Barnes, otherwise known as Bucky, has quickly become a favorite among the Avengers, especially after appearing in The Falcon and the Winter Soldier. While the character’s MCU future is not yet known to fans, they can expect to see plenty of the fan-favorite moving forward.

With Bucky Barnes’s future so unclear, inserting him into what has already become one of the highest-anticipated installments of the MCU would do wonders in assuring fans that his time is not yet up in the franchise. Additionally, the character’s rough exterior and sarcastic sense of humor might mesh nicely with Matt Murdock’s own coarse edges.

Spider-Man

Spider-Man MCU

Spider-Man: No Way Home changed the titular superhero’s world forever in more ways than one, leaving Peter Parker forgotten by everyone in the world, including his closest loved ones. However, this hasn’t stopped the Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man from continuing his mission to keep New York City safe, with a brand-new trilogy following the character’s exploits already in development.

Spider-Man and Daredevil are among some of the most popular Marvel team-ups to ever grace the pages of a comic book, causing many fans to yearn for such an occasion to occur in live-action. While the two did meet briefly in No Way Home, they each have yet to meet the others’ superhero alter-ego, which seems like a likely occurrence given their history.

She-Hulk

Will Daredevil Appear In She-Hulk? No Way Home Set It Up Featured

She-Hulk is one of the newest and most exciting superhero entries in the MCU’s fourth phase (who will make her Disney+ debut this August). The character is an attorney who represents a super-powered clientele, who also happens to be cousins with the Incredible Hulk himself.

Many fans are of the opinion that Matt Murdock will appear at some point in the She-Hulk series, even if only as a cameo. Given that both Murdock and Walters are attorneys who moonlight as superheroes, it’s truly only a matter of time before their paths cross (if not in She-Hulk, then certainly in Daredevil season 4).
