Disney Parks: 10 Movies That Should Have Their Own Theme Park Attractions

Disney Parks: 10 Movies That Should Have Their Own Theme Park Attractions

With Thor: Love And Thunder coming out soon and the buzz around the new Guardians Of The Galaxy ride at Epcot, it is a very exciting and anticipated time for Disney and Marvel fans. The Disney Imagineers are known by now for creating some of the most captivating and impressive additions to the Disney Parks by bringing that classic Disney magic to life.

It’s safe to say that the Imagineers have already blown fans’ minds with their immense creativity, with rides like Star Wars’ “Rise of the Resistance” or even “Toy Story Mania” in Hollywood Studios. However, there are a few fan-favorite Disney movies that do not yet have their own attractions that most definitely should.

The Emperor’s New Groove

Disney Parks: 10 Movies That Should Have Their Own Theme Park Attractions

Considering the film literally included a built-in coaster that dives into Yzma’s lair, it would be obvious to have a fun Emperor’s New Groove-themed ride. From the neon colors to the clear speed it would take to submerge underground, it would be an absolute blast of a rollercoaster.

Visitors would also find it fun to be able to play Kronk so they can pull their own lever. Additionally, once the coaster takes riders down to the lair, they can watch either an animatronic Yzma make the potions for Kuzco or even an interactive feature to create potions.

Tangled

So far, the only reference to the film on Disney Park properties is a Tangled-themed section with a tower that signals park-goers to the bathrooms. But given how adventurous and action-packed the story is, many fans believe it would work perfectly as an amazing, immersive 3D attraction at the Disney parks.

The story could be told on a ride similar to the Star Wars ride “Star Tours” in Hollywood Studios where the floor moves, so every rider could feel what it’s like to ride horses through the forest or take a canoe ride during the lantern festival.

Beauty And The Beast

Belle and the Beast dancing in the ballroom

The Beauty And The Beast-themed restaurant is exciting enough, but if park-goers had an actual ride that toured one of the best castles in Disney animation, it would be even better. There are many routes the Imagineers could take in designing an enthralling ride, but a “Haunted Mansion”-style ride could be the answer.

Any fan of the movie knows just how massive and luxurious the Beast’s castle is, so a ride that takes viewers throughout the castle would be nothing short of spectacular. Even better if there were animatronics doing a dance number for “Be Our Guest” or watching any of the real-life movie scenes play out would be a real treat.

Moana

Moana high-fiving an ocean wave

With Moana being one of the more recent Disney stories that take place nearby and even in the ocean, it only makes sense for a water ride to be put into place. After all, with how hot it gets year-round in both California and Orlando, it’s almost necessary that this happens sometime down the line.

According to Inside the Magic, Disney Imagineers are supposedly planning a scenic, Moana-themed walkthrough at Epcot called “Journey Of Water,” however, an actual ride could delve into the story further. Although Disney lovers would be thrilled to see any Moana reference at the parks, the possibilities for a water ride are endless with this fun story.

Atlantis

Although it’s super neat that Disney has already incorporated the film into different cruises and resorts, Atlantis is an underrated gem and it would be fantastic to see some sort of reference at the parks, too. Perhaps a ride similar to the “Pirates Of The Caribbean” experience where riders can float down on boats and take in all of the views of Atlantis.

Additionally, a creative twist could be added by lighting up a part of the water to show the underwater realm in an up-close and personal manner. Park-goers could also see the movie being perfect for a water ride, which nobody will complain about having more of on those hot and sunny park days.

Hercules

With its high-energy songs, action-packed scenes, and lovable characters, it is surprising that Disney’s Hercules has not become an attraction yet. The mythological-inspired story is a perfect fit for either a classic dark ride or even a roller coaster.

Riders can follow Hercules’ journey on his quest to become a hero, traveling through ancient Greece and diving into the dark depths of the Underworld. Not only would this be reminiscent of rides such as the Haunted Mansion, but Hades, one of the best animated Disney villains, would be an excellent addition as an animatronic. His sharp wit and sense of humor combined with his fiery temper can be both hilarious and awe-inspiring to watch. The ride could end on Mount Olympus, in a magical scene full of the Greek gods, which can be akin to the finale of Splash Mountain.

Wall-E

There is a lot of potential with Pixar’s Wall-E, especially if the attraction was placed in Epcot. Like the film, the ride could use fun methods to educate fans on why it’s necessary to take care of our planet.

It could be a 3D experience that takes riders on an immersive journey that details the importance of keeping our planet clean and lively, and how the future depends on it. The potentially fun attraction would work especially well in accordance with rides like “Living With The Land” and “Spaceship Earth” which take viewers on an educational journey throughout history and motivates park-goers to save the Earth.

Coco

Miguel and Hector traveling through the colorful land

Coco is yet another unexpectedly popular Pixar film that immediately took the world by storm, especially as a Disney movie guaranteed to make viewers cry. From its unique cultural perspective on the Mexican holiday Día de Los Muertos, also known as Day of the Dead, to the vivid imagery, there’s no doubt this could be a cool attraction at any of the Disney Parks.

Specifically speaking, such a ride would fit in quite well at Epcot, bringing not only the cultural importance to the table but also a ton of fun, especially around the time of Mickey’s Halloween Party. It would be a neat idea to have the ride be similar to the “Seven Dwarfs Mine Train” ride where park-goers can ride through various scenes, but also have a dark ride portion of the attraction where the bright colors, animatronics, and cultural music can really thrive.

Lilo And Stitch

Though the popular animated movie already had a ride in Magic Kingdom called “Stitch’s Great Escape,” it wasn’t long before the ride was taken down, as it was known for scaring many children with its surprisingly horrifying imagery. However, a Lil0 & Stitch-themed attraction is sorely missed, so perhaps a speedy coaster that blasts “Hawaiian Rollercoaster Ride” or a space-themed immersive experience would work well in accordance with “Space Mountain.”

The ride could resemble the same type of feel as the Star Wars “Rise Of The Resistance” ride, where riders could invade the spaceship and be chased out by guards while being shot with laser beams and other galactic weapons. Or it could resemble “Smuggler’s Run,” where riders are in charge of the spaceship’s controls as they race through the galaxy to rescue Stitch from enemies.

Fantasia

As one of Disney’s earliest classic films that are still adored to this day, a Fantasia ride would be such a fun, full-circle moment to introduce the story to a whole new generation. With the movie’s vivid and creative imagery, there are so many opportunities for a fun attraction in its name.

For example, a 4D film experience would create such a fun atmosphere that would be set apart from the more ordinary 3D rides. Just picturing a ride similar to “Soarin'” in Epcot that would take riders on a journey throughout the film’s most epic moments, fully immersing riders into the world via smells and even water splashes would be something all Disney fans would treasure.
