Disney Channel: 5 Shows That Need A Comeback (& 5 That Should Stay In The Past)

Disney Channel: 5 Shows That Need A Comeback (& 5 That Should Stay In The Past)

The Disney Channel and its shows iconic and have been for the past few decades. Every child loves Disney – the movies, the songs, and the shows. And they have really upped their game, with Disney movies even competing for Oscars, like with Frozen, up there with the very best.

With their meaningful messages that relate to everyday life and occasional comedy, many have also achieved their independent fan bases, and also paved the way for many actors’ careers. While sometimes fans would love to see particular show rebooted, other times it just wouldn’t work.

Needs A Comeback – Wizards Of Waverly Place

Disney Channel: 5 Shows That Need A Comeback (& 5 That Should Stay In The Past)

This trio is iconic – Selena Gomez’s mischievous Alex Russo, David Henrie’s Justin Russo, and Jake T. Austin’s Max Russo. Now, with the cast all grown up, and the availability of modern CGI and techniques, the magic and overall realism of the series would be head and shoulders above its predecessor.

It would work so perfectly, the cast has matured as actors and this could be a modern take on the normal life of a wizard. It could give an insight into the lives of the characters and what happened after they grew up in a Fuller House type of story, and with Disney focusing their resources mainly on Disney+ shows now, this is the best time to remake the iconic series, provided the original cast returns.

Should Stay In The Past – Jonas

Jonas-Brothers-2008

Who can forget Jonas? It gave the Jonas Brothers their doorway into Disney and was a perfect platform for expanding their exposure and fanbase to people of younger ages. Now, they have been through a lot, with the band splitting up, getting married, internal disputes and fights, and eventually the rebirth of the band that fans see today.

But, even though this sounds like the perfect plot for a movie, the lifestyle of the band has changed and has become slightly inappropriate for children. Some things are better left in the past.

Needs A Comeback – Kim Possible

Yes, there was a Kim Possible live-action movie released a bit ago, but it’s safe to say it greatly missed the mark. While the modern era has provided animators and movie-makers with advanced, state-of-the-art technology, live-action remakes and reboots sometimes fall short, like The Lion King.

With the correct cast, animators and plot, and keeping it as an animated series, as fans loved, it could set records, and once again help die-hard fans feel that nostalgia.

Should Stay In The Past – The Suite Life Of Zack And Cody

As one of the most iconic Disney Channel shows of the last two decades, and with Disney going through a partial rebuild, it’s better if this show stays in the past. With the Sprouse twins busy in their individual endeavors and most of the original cast all grown up, it’s safe to assume that a reboot as this stage would most likely fail to do the show justice.

Another reason for avoiding a reboot is Phil Lewis himself, who was arrested for manslaughter and driving while drunk, killing a 21-year-old.

Needs A Comeback – Even Stevens

Back when Shia LaBoeuf was a young adult, and when Disney shows were not allowed to have more than 65 episodes, Even Stevens, quickly gained popularity with LeBoeuf portraying the clown of the family who caused them to go through a lot, bringing them closer together.

Now, with the release of Disney Plus, and with Disney rebooting shows such as Lizzie McGuire, an Even Stevens reboot would be amazing.

Should Stay In The Past – Hannah Montana

Miley Cyrus And Selena Gomez As Hannah Montana And Mikayla

Possibly THE most iconic show in Disney history, winning millions of hearts worldwide, Hannah Montana was canceled in 2011, after 98 episodes. Famous for its fantasy realism, with Miley Stewart/Hannah as the secret pop star trying to hide her identity, Hannah Montana was played by Miley Cyrus and her dad was played by her real-life dad, Billy Ray Cyrus.

With the introduction of Disney Plus, many shows are being rebooted, but given Miley Cyrus’ changed lifestyle and current whereabouts of the original cast, Disney should not reboot the iconic show.

Needs A Comeback – Phineas And Ferb

Phineas and Ferb was one of the most loved shows all over the world, with three simultaneous storylines in one show. To the fans’ heartbreak, the show ended in 2015, with the last episode fittingly named “Last Day Of Summer.

But, technology has advanced greatly since 2015, and with the state of the art technology available today, a Phineas and Ferb reboot would be the perfect addition to Disney’s new era.

Should Stay In The Past – The Suite Life On Deck

The spin-off to another hit show, The Suite Life of Zack and Cody, this series provided a different setting but with the same humorous characters and unique storyline. It became an instant winner, despite the change of scenery.

The ending of the show broke a lot of hearts, but most fans agreed it was a fitting end. Given that it ended perfectly, it should stay in the past and not be rebooted.

Needs A Comeback – Phil Of The Future

Quite possibly one of the best concepts for a Disney shows ever, this show showed the common struggles of a family from 2121, accidentally stuck in 2004.

With the new issues and problems of everyday life now, fans would love to see the same concept applied again, whether that’s with a different cast stuck farther ahead in time, or perhaps in the 18th-century past.

Should Stay In The Past –  A.N.T Farm

Zendaya In ANT Farm Slytherin

An especially iconic Disney musical, A.N.T. Farm starred China Anne McClain, who played Chyna Parks, a musical whiz kid who gets accepted to the Advanced Natural Talent (A.N.T.) program at a high school, where she can showcase her talent for the whole world to see.

The show ended in 2014, leaving fans heartbroken but satisfied. For this reason, A.N.T. Farm should not be rebooted.
