The Trials of Osiris is a competitive PvP game mode in Destiny 2 where two teams of three players face off against one another in an attempt to win five rounds of the match, ultimately leading to a Flawless Passage after winning seven matches. The rewards that can be obtained from going Flawless are among the best weapons, crafting materials, mods, and cosmetics that can be obtained in the game. Thus, many players may find it challenging to complete a Flawless Passage due to the sheer skill level of the Guardians who have entered Trials.
Those who enter the Trials of Osiris without a team throughout Season of the Haunted in Destiny 2 may find it even more challenging to go Flawless while playing solo, particularly on weekends where the Freelance playlist isn’t available. The Freelance playlist for Trials of Osiris offers Guardians who lack a fireteam to join the competitive matchmaking while being paired up with and facing others who don’t have a team. Many solo players may find this particular version of Trials more appealing than being paired up with a random duo and playing against a whole team of three, primarily because the random pairing of teammates doesn’t provide the same level of cooperation among Guardians as a complete fireteam does.

The Best Loadout For Trials Of Osiris (Solo)
Creating the best loadout in Trials of Osiris pertains to survivability more than it getting the most amount of kills, as each member of the fireteam only has one life before they need to be revived by a teammate. Thus, creating a specific build around an Exotic armor piece is just as important here as it is for endgame PvE activities, and the right Exotic to use comes from the benefits it provides. For example, The Bombardiers Hunter Solar build in Destiny 2 may prove to be useful in PvE activities, but the benefits of using the Wormhusk Crown far outweigh those of The Bombardiers in Trials of Osiris.
Guardians should take a look through their inventory to see which Exotic armor pieces they have available for each class, or whichever class they plan on using in Trials of Osiris. Additionally, any Exotic armor pieces should work to improve the character stats of Guardians, so it’s just as important to use armor that provides a quality boost to character stats as it does the survivability of the Guardian. For example, the build in the image above is a Void Titan using Ward of Dawn as its Super, and the Heart of Inmost Light as its Exotic armor piece. The Resilience and Intellect character stats on this Guardian’s armor allow them to reach Tier 10 in both cases, with the Discipline, Recovery, and Strength stats falling in at Tiers five, seven, and six, respectively.
While these stats are high enough to replenish the Guardian’s abilities in a reasonable time, Heart of Inmost Light accelerates one ability’s recharge rate when the other two are used. This ensures that this Titan will have their class, Grenade, and Melee abilities as frequently as possible, giving them more tools to use in Trials of Osiris. Additionally, by equipping the Traveler’s Chose Exotic Sidearm, this particular Guardian has a strong weapon to use in close-quarter’s combat that will also allow them to replenish the energy of all abilities with each kill. The Aisha’s Embrace Scout Rifle in Destiny 2 is a great option to pair with the Traveler’s Chosen as well because it gives the Titan a ranged option without forcing them to use a Sniper Rifle with limited ammunition.
Tips & Strategies To Use When Playing Trials Of Osiris (Solo)
Despite the benefits of the aforementioned loadout, quality armor and weapons are not enough to complete a Flawless Passage and bring a player to the Lighthouse. Particularly for those who are playing solo, there are fundamental skills that must be implemented match after match in order to have the best odds of winning. Especially for those who are newer to PvP activities, it takes time and patience to instinctively keep the following tips and strategies in mind when playing Trials of Osiris solo. Continue to practice these fundamentals in standard Crucible activities throughout Destiny 2, then bring them into the Trials of Osiris.
- Stay Alive: Knowing when to continue to a fight and pull out is a split-second decision that can ultimately determine whether or not players win or lose the match. Guardians should stick near cover in case their health gets low, and try to challenge an opponent from a different angle if they’re pinned down.
- Stay Mobile: Aside from using a Sniper Rifle, which is trial and error on its own, never hold down an angle that doesn’t have an enemy at it for more than two or three seconds. The beginning of a Trials match challenges this rule as many players run down expect lanes, but for the majority of the match, it’s best to look, reposition to a different angle, and look again.
- Support Teammates: It may sound obvious given that Trials of Osiris is a PvP mode where teammates will always be around, but the concept of teamwork is critical to remember. Because solo players can’t always vocally communicate with teammates, the best supporting option is to be aware of what their other teammates are doing. Don’t crowd their lane, don’t split off when there is a numbers advantage, and constantly rotate to support their position. It may be challenging, but taking these initiatives are among the best that solo players can take in Trials of Osiris.
