Destiny 2: How To Get The Renewal Grasps (Hunter Exotic)

Destiny 2: How To Get The Renewal Grasps (Hunter Exotic)

The Witch Queen expansion for Destiny 2 is finally here, and there are tons of new exotic weapons and armor to discover. Warlocks, Hunters, and Titans each have two brand new exotic pieces of armor to find, and they seem to be some of the best exotic armor pieces ever released for each class in Destiny 2. Of the two new exotic armor pieces that Hunters have received, the Renewal Grasps exotic Gauntlets stand out. These Gauntlets are centered around buffing Hunters’ stasis Duskfield grenades, so they won’t be benefitting from any Hunter Void 3.0 update in Destiny 2, however, they are still extremely strong.

The description for the Renewal Grasps exotic perk, Depths of Duskfield, reads, ” Players’ Duskfield grenades have a much larger effect radius. Allies inside the Duskfield take reduced damage, and targets inside the area deal reduced damage.” Hunters are no stranger to exotic gauntlets that buff subclass grenades, and the Renewal Grasps happen to be the first Hunter exotic that buffs a stasis subclass grenade in the game. The Renewal Grasps make the Duskfield grenade cover a larger area than a Titan bubble and applies damage resistance buffs to allies who stand inside of it. The Renewal Grasps also debuff enemies to cause less damage with their weapons. The Grasps also work in synergy with many powerful Stasis Aspects for Revenant Hunters in Destiny 2.

Using the Revenant subclass aspect Touch of Winter, Duskfield grenades will spawn a small Stasis crystal in the middle of its area-of-effect. The Renewal Grasps will buff the stasis crystal that is spawned, making it a full-sized stasis crystal. This can be stacked with the Revenant subclass Fragment Whisper of Chains, which causes increased damage resistance for the player when standing near a stasis crystal, as well as another Fragment called Whisper of Shards that recharges grenade energy when destroying a stasis crystal. While the Grasps are excellent for survivability in PvE, they are blatantly overpowered in PvP, causing the player to survive four or even five taps of a Hand Cannon to the head while standing next to a stasis crystal in a Duskfield grenade area. It’s almost as though Destiny 2’s stasis cannot be nerfed.

How To Get The Renewal Grasps in Destiny 2

Destiny 2: How To Get The Renewal Grasps (Hunter Exotic)

Acquiring these gloves will take a fair amount of grind in this season of Destiny 2. The quickest way to get the Renewal Grasps is to complete all Witch Queen campaign missions on Legendary difficulty as a Hunter. This is no easy feat, but, after beating the Legendary campaign, players will be given 1,520 power leveled gear and the choice to acquire one of the two new exotic armor pieces for each class, Renewal Grasps included. The other exotic that is not chosen, like most new exotic armor pieces added to the game, will only be able to be acquired from completing a solo Legend or Master Lost Sector. Players who don’t clear the Legendary campaign will also have to clear one of those Lost Sectors to get the gloves.

Any Hunter player should be looking to grab the Renewal Grasps as soon as they can. These are easily the best stasis-based pieces of exotic armor in both  PvE and PvP for hunters and are sure to become a part of a Hunter main’s daily rotation. Renewal Grasps’ ability to synergize with stasis aspects like Touch of Winter as well as Fragments like Whisper of Chains make these gauntlets one of the most powerful and useful pieces of exotic gear Hunters have ever received.

Destiny 2 is available on PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and Google Stadia.
