Destiny 2: How To Get The Lingering Dread Grenade Launcher (& God Roll)

Destiny 2: How To Get The Lingering Dread Grenade Launcher (& God Roll)

Lingering Dread is a brand new Special Grenade Launcher in Destiny 2, and its god roll is the first of its kind. Breach Grenade Launchers are some of the best weapons to use for crowd control in Destiny 2, and Lingering Dread fits in nicely with the likes of others in the Kinetic slot like Ignition Code and Pardon Our Dust. What separates Lingering Dread from the others, however, is that it deals Stasis damage and has access to related perks.

The only downside to Lingering Dread is that it is one of the few weapons that can’t be crafted in Destiny 2, just like the rest of the weapons that are part of this set. Acquiring the god roll will be a little more challenging because of this, especially since it drops from only two of the encounters in the new Duality Dungeon. Fortunately, after Lingering Dread has been acquired once the weapon will become a permanent part of the collections tab. This means that it can also be earned from either of the secret chests spread throughout the dungeon as well.

Only the first encounter and final encounter of Duality will reward Guardians with Lingering Dread. Fortunately, both of the secret chests are located after the first encounter, allowing up to four chances to earn Linerging Dread if it is rewarded after defeating the Nightmare of Gahlran. The first secret chest can be found in the room with four Cabal statues, while the second is near the tenth Repressed Memory location in the Duality Dungeon. Since the secret chests only reward items that have been earned at the end of encounters, it will be easier to get Lingering Dread if only a couple of items have been earned beforehand. Any weapon or gear piece from the dungeon can drop in the final encounter, which may make it more challenging to earn the Stasis Grenade Launcher.

The Best Perks For Lingering Dread In Destiny 2

Breach Grenade Launchers have great uses for both PvP and PvE activities with the right perks. For the barrel perk, Lingering Dread’s best options are Quick Launch, Confined Launch for PvP, and Smart Drift Control for PvE. Both the Blinding Grenades and Spike Grenades magazine perks will work well in Vanguard, Crucible, and Gambit activities in Destiny 2, as well as endgame PvE and PvP activities. Specifically for PvP, the Proximity Grenades perk is also a great alternative. However, what really makes Lingering Dread a unique Grenade Launcher are its third and fourth column perks:

  • 1. Auto-Loading Holster/Chill Clip – This is the god roll for Lingering Dread, perfect for Stasis builds.
  • 2. Auto-Loading Holster/Vorpal Weapon – Vorpal Weapon makes Lingering Dread a better weapon to use against bosses, vehicles, and Guardians with their Super active.
  • 3. Ambitious Assassin/Chill Clip – Ambitious Assassin reloads two grenades in the launcher whenever a kill is made.
  • 4. Ambitious Assassin, Auto-Loading Holster/Demolitionist – Great option for Grenade-centered builds.

Destiny 2 is available on PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and Google Stadia.
