While Mitsuri Kanroji might be one of the most elite warriors in the Demon Slayer Corps, all she really ever wanted was a peaceful life full of love and happiness, as a quietly powerful cosplay reveals.
On her Instagram profile, digital creator @mocchi.photo shows Mitsuri in a beautifully peaceful scene, that the Hashira would agree expresses her most precious desires. Despite being a member of the Demon Slayers Corps’ Hashira and having a track record of taking down some of Muzan’s nastiest demons, Mitsuri Kanroji’s ambitions never centered on defeating demons or avenging the death or injury of a friend or loved one at the hand of a devil. Rather, she joined the Corps to find a husband who was stronger than her or had strength comparable to Mitsuri’s surprising power. Simply put, Mitsuri is a lover, who chose to fight in order to find happiness.
Mitsuri Is Known As the Love Hashira For A Reason
Throughout the story, there were a number of ways that the extremely emotional Mitsuri expresses her feelings of love and happiness. For instance, she often blushed when thinking good thoughts about another person. Despite her emotional reaction to people she knows and considers her friends, Mitsuri is actually quite a shy and introverted person who tends to keep to herself. In those times she most naturally expresses her emotions through her love of animals. While Mitsuri has a particular affection for cats – even naming two forms in her Love breathing style after cats – she also has a pet crow. When animals seem desperate and vulnerable, just as with her human colleagues and friends, Mitsuri would do her utmost to make sure that they were safe.

The cosplayer skillfully captures this softer, quieter side of Mitsuri, thanks to the great choice of scenery and the poise she transmits in the photos, and in doing so exposes the true reason why Mitsuri is known as the Love Hashira. She is the emotional center or “heart” of the Hashira and by extension the whole Demon Slayer Corps. As Tanjiro spoke of Mitsuri in Demon Slayer Chapter #123, she’s the one “who shines the light of hope – as long as she’s alive, we can still win!” There is no better description of love and of Mitsuri than that. In showing her general peace-loving demeanor, Mocchi really transmits the feeling that despite their otherworldly abilities, underneath it all the Hashira and demon slayers are just as human as everyone else.
Indeed, the cosplay offers an excellent and meaningful commentary on Mitsuri’s story. Beyond her hyper-emotional personality, and underneath her superhuman abilities, unlike other Hashira, Mitsuri’s goals in life were not only wholesome but also common to the average Demon Slayer fan – namely to enjoy peaceful times with close friends and family.
