Deadpool Reveals the Genius Secret of His Deadliest Ability

Warning! Spoilers ahead for Deadpool Nerdy 30 #1, “No Chill Whatsoever” from Daniel Way and Paco Medina

In Marvel Comics’ special 30th anniversary issue for Deadpool, Wade Wilson reveals the secret behind one of his deadliest abilities, revealing how he always has awesome weapons at his disposal. It seems as though wherever Deadpool is, he always has an impressive arsenal of guns, ammo, and explosives at the ready, and at this point, it’s almost a superpower in and of itself beyond his incredible healing factor. The answer is actually quite cold…and sweet.

In Deadpool Nerdy 30 #1, an impressive collection of Marvel creatives have come together to tell a hilarious anthology of stories detailing various birthdays Wade Wilson has had or will have in the Marvel Universe. As such, Deadpool’s first birthday saw various Cables coming from the future, debating with one another about whether or not they should kill him, and if it would actually save the world. Additionally, his 16th birthday happened to be on the same day as his high school prom, so Wade thought the dance was actually his birthday party, though it ended up being crashed by Wolverine all the same. However, in “No Chill Whatsoever” by writer Daniel Way with art by Paco Medina reveals a genius fact about Deadpool’s guns and ammo, all while Wade is picking up his birthday cake.

In the short story, Deadpool has just helped an illicit drug manufacturer get out from the control of a Nicaraguan drug lord, who has promised to confess to the CIA if Wade can get him to safety and away from the pursuing cartels. However, Deadpool needs to make a quick stop on the way to Frozen Tasteland to pick up his cake, though he also reveals his amazing preparedness when it comes to his weaponry as well.

Deadpool Reveals the Genius Secret of His Deadliest Ability

Thanks to the prevalence of this particular ice cream shop chain all over the world, Deadpool always has a stash of gear nearby when he needs it. While the scientist thinks his hiding places are stupid, it’s actually the best kind of logic and a stroke of hilarious brilliance for Deadpool. It essentially acts as the perfect small-scale retcon, providing the off-page explanation that whenever Deadpool showed up to a fight with a plethora of weapons seemingly out of nowhere, he actually ran to the closest Frozen Wasteland parlor to pick up his gear.

At the end of the story, Deadpool picks up his cake, grenades, some new guns, and plenty of snacks stuffed into his pouches. However, he decides to leave the drugmaker behind cuffed in the freezer, determining that the CIA would probably just hire him to make more drugs and hurt more people, which Deadpool wasn’t interested in. In any case, Deadpool’s ice cream caches are now a thing, and it’s absolutely awesome. As such, it would be really fun to see these ice cream shops pop up in future Deadpool issues down the line from Marvel Comics whenever Wade needs to stock up on some firepower… and a dipped cone.
