Dead by Daylight Survivor Guide: Jill Valentine (Perks, Tips, & Strategies)

Dead by Daylight Survivor Guide: Jill Valentine (Perks, Tips, & Strategies)

Jill Valentine is one of two new Survivors added to Dead By Daylight in Chapter XX: Resident Evil, and her Perks make her a formidable challenge against multiple Killers, including and especially new Killer Nemesis, The Tyrant. In the 2020 Resident Evil 3 remake, Jill Valentine is a founding member of S.T.A.R.S. and has seen some terrifying bio-organic weapons throughout her career. Jill’s three unique Dead By Daylight Perks make her an excellent support for her teammates and allow her to go after a Killer’s supports, like Totems and Generator Kicks.

As with other Survivors in Dead By Daylight, once players reach certain levels, Survivor Perks become teachable to the other 26 Survivors to help them face any Killer. While it is possible Perks will be buffed or nerfed over time after the DLC releases, Jill’s three Perks are especially useful for a number of Killer situations. When playing as Jill in Dead By Daylight, fans should focus primarily on fixing Generators and finding and cleansing Totems to help their teammates escape.

How to Play As Jill Valentine in Dead By Daylight

Dead by Daylight Survivor Guide: Jill Valentine (Perks, Tips, & Strategies)

To play as Jill Valentine in Dead By Daylight‘s Resident Evil chapter, fans will need to master her Perks. Jill comes with three Perks that give her some significant, if indirect, power against Killers. These are:

  • Counterforce: Cleanses Totems 20% faster. This Perk stacks for a bonus 20% to Cleansing Speed per cleansed Totems. After cleansing a Totem, the Aura of the Totem farthest from Jill is revealed for 2 to 4 seconds. Teachable at Level 30.
  • Resurgence: After being unhooked or unhooking herself, Jill instantly gains 40 to 50 percent to her Healing progress. Teachable at Level 35
  • Blast Mine: Jill sets a Trap on a Generator after repairing it for at least 3 seconds. After repairing the Generator to 66%, Blast Mine will activate and stay active for 35 to 45 seconds. When the Killer kicks the Generator, Blast Mine explodes, stunning them and blinding anyone nearby. The Aura of Generators that have been rigged with a Trap are visible in yellow to Survivors, alerting them that Jill is working on that Generator. Teachable at Level 40.
Nemesis, Jill, and Leon in the Resident Evil Chapter of Dead by Daylight

Jill’s Blast Mine perk is the obvious standout of the group, though Resurgence can be extremely beneficial as well. Like many DLC Survivors, not all of Jill’s Perks will be immediately useful in all situations, and there may already be other Perks available from other Survivors that grant similar abilities or better. Fans may want to try out other Survivor Perks with Jill to see what combinations work best.

It is possible Jill may be targeted by various Killers, as her Perks are powerful and make her dangerous. Staying mobile and avoiding getting boxed in by the Killer will be important when playing Jill. This can be difficult when trying to fix Generators, but always staying aware of her surroundings and working together with other teammates should help limit the amount of specific targeting the killer can do.

When playing as Jill in Dead By Daylight, fans should consider focusing most of their attention on fixing Generators and activating Blast Mine. This Perk is a great way for the Survivors to fight back against Generator sabotage and can help the team get to the exit and survive the Trial. It is similar to Cheryl Mason’s Repressed Alliance Perk that can give Survivors a better chance to actively fight back against the Killer. Resurgence can also help Jill and other Survivors who learn this Perk return to an undamaged health state more quickly, giving them more time to survive. When playing against Nemesis, returning to an undamaged state as quickly as possible will be especially important to avoid being downed by his zombie AI helpers or his Tentacle Strike.

Dead By Daylight is available for PC, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, and mobile devices. Chapter XX: Resident Evil launches June 15, 2021.
