Dead By Daylight Mobile Reaches 17 Million Downloads On 1st Anniversary

Developer Behaviour Interactive launched Dead by Daylight Mobile in April 2020; in celebrating the title’s first anniversary, the company has revealed a new milestone of 17 million downloads. Like its console and PC counterpart, Dead by Daylight Mobile is a 4v1 asymmetrical multiplayer game that takes inspiration from classic slasher films.

The mobile version doesn’t skimp on the content either, given that Dead by Daylight’s most brutal killers sit front and center, including Freddy Krueger, Ghostface, Michael Myers, and Silent Hill’s Pyramid Head. Mobile players also receive the content updates that go live on other platforms, though said updates don’t always go live simultaneously. For instance, the K-Pop-inspired All-Kill chapter hit consoles and PC late last month, while the same add-on will make its way to mobile devices on May 3. Such a release is perfectly timed, too, as the player base continues to expand.

Today, Behaviour Interactive shared a press release that makes note of Dead by Daylight Mobile’s first anniversary. The Canadian studio additionally confirmed a new milestone for Android and iOS title – within just 12 months of its arrival, Dead by Daylight Mobile managed to earn an impressive 17 million downloads. Few could’ve predicted that Behaviour’s collaboration with NetEase would prove so successful at such a fast pace.

Dead by Daylight Mobile’s ability to reach an audience of 17 million is nothing to scoff at, especially when considering the sheer number of online experiences vying for players’ time across mobile platforms. That a niche horror game with asymmetrical multiplayer accomplished such a feat in only one year’s time is worthy of additional applause.

The mobile version’s millions of players will soon have yet another reason to dive back into the horrific world of Dead by Daylight. As noted above, the All-Kill DLC that recently launched on consoles and PC is slated to hit Android and iOS in just a few short weeks. All-Kill provides access to a new killer, the Trickster, a K-Pop idol that Behaviour Interactive created in conjunction with BTS’ former producer, DJ Swivel. Dead by Daylight’s latest chapter also introduces a character named Yun-Jin Lee as the survivor. Interestingly, her backstory follows through on the K-Pop theme, placing her in the role of a producer who once worked alongside the Trickster.
