DC’s Titans Are Holding Back Infinite Frontier’s Best Reunion

DC’s Titans Are Holding Back Infinite Frontier’s Best Reunion

Fans of DC’s Titans are waiting with bated breath for the long-time coming reunion between Roy Harper and his daughter Lian after Infinite Frontier. When Roy found out she was alive, he made the Titans promise to help him find her. But he never started looking for her until much later after running with the Titans for some time. Roy Harper lost his daughter long ago during DC’s New 52 era. She was presumed dead by everyone when Prometheus and The Executioner destroyed Star City. Miraculously, though, she had survived and simply lost her memories. Roy and Green Arrow were struck by grief to the point that they murdered both Prometheus and The Executioner. Even since then Roy, under the assumption that she was dead, did everything in her memory. She was the most important person in his life.

Lian wasn’t the only one to “die” and come back, Roy himself suffered through the fate of actual death at the hands of his close friend, Wally West. A Speed Force explosion at the Sanctuary was the source of his death, but he wouldn’t stay dead for long. During the events of Infinite Frontier by Joshua Williamson, Paul Pelletier, Jesús Merino, Norm Rapmund, Xermanico, Tom Napolitano, and Romulo Fajardo Jr., Roy Harper was shown to have been revived due to changes in the timeline. He was sporting a Black Lantern ring, which showed him constructs of the people he loved, including a teenage Lian. Now knowing she’s alive, Roy used the desire to find his daughter to break free of the Black Lantern ring. His willpower to find his daughter pushed him to break free of one of the strongest weapons in the Universe and finally, he was heading toward Earth.

Pressing events held back the Titans and Roy from seeking her out upon immediate knowledge of her status, but afterward, there was ample time to search. Roy’s devotion to his friends and sense of duty to help them held him back from his search. The Titans had their problems to deal with and for the sake of getting the old gang back together, Lian was pushed aside until just recently. In reality, Roy Harper should’ve taken to the streets the moment he could to search for his long-lost and beloved daughter.

But the reunion was still yet to come because he decided to seek out the help of his friends, the Titans. His return came in Teen Titans Academy #8 by Tim Sheridan, Mike Norton, Rob Leigh, Marie Javins, with Hi-Fi Design. While the Titans agreed to help, Roy was stuck helping them instead as events unfolded that pushed them to rebuild the Academy at a more secure location. Even during downtime, Roy didn’t go off to look for Lian, instead, his devotion to his friends held him back from the long-awaited reunion. While this devotion to friends is not inherently a bad thing, Roy has proven that his main priority should be and has been finding the daughter he thought he lost long ago.

Roy and Lian deserve to find each other after so long of waiting around, and fans have been hoping to finally see the much-anticipated reunion. If he had continued to find her himself, the Titans wouldn’t have held him back. Regardless of whether it was on purpose or not, Roy’s mission for Lian must become his priority above all else. With Dark Crisis on Infinite Earths on the horizon, hopefully, now readers can finally see the best reunion to come from Infinite Frontier now that the Titans are no longer holding Roy Harper back.
