DC’s New Era Has Two Versions Of Batman And Superman

DC Comics has unveiled their next era of comics, as the DC Universe will be refreshed in the upcoming ‘Infinite Frontier’ one-shot. The exciting announcement has also revealed the next chapter in the publisher’s superhero stories will feature not one, but two versions of both Batman and Superman.

Infinite Frontier is a 64-page one-shot that features some of the top talents in comics working on DC Comic’s next era of books. The new chapter will set the stage for what’s to come in the future following the events of Future State. The one-shot will feature creative talents such as Joshua Williamson, Scott Snyder, Brian Michael Bendis, Geoff Johns, Alex Maleev, Jamal Igle, Jorge Jimenez, Todd Nauck, Alitha Martinez, and more. Infinite Frontier will set the tone for DC’s next slate of books which include a new Joker book from James Tynion and Guillem March, Justice League from Bendis and David Marquez, and a new Stargirl series from Johns and Nauck. DC’s next era will also feature multiple versions of certain characters – with new heroes in Future State seemingly joining the main timeline.

It remains to be seen how the new versions of Batman and Superman might join DC’s Infinite Frontier, but considering all of the multiverse shenanigans occurring in Dark Night: Death Metal, there’s plenty of ways to merge the future with the present. It’s also possible that since it’s the new Tim Fox Batman and Jon Kent’s Superman, that this might just be the early adventures of the characters – as they operate under the main versions of the iconic DC characters.

DC’s New Era Has Two Versions Of Batman And Superman

Here’s the description from Joshua Williamson, who’s co-writing the Infinite Frontier one-shot.

Infinite Frontier #0 really feels like the beginning of a new era of DC Comics, a time when anything is possible,” said writer Joshua Williamson. “We’re taking the aftermath of Dark Nights: Death Metal and combining it with the best things we love as storytellers about the DC Universe, resulting in bold, fun, and exciting new directions. There are a lot of teases to new story lines, surprises, and mysteries for the year set up in Infinite Frontier #0 that you won’t want to miss.

Batman and Superman won’t be the only characters with multiple versions, as the incredible cover by Dan Jurgens and Mikel Janin showcases at least three different versions of The Flash (one from Future State), multiple Green Lanterns (including the return of Alan Scott), as well as multiple versions of Wonder Woman (including Nubia). It’s cool to see Future State won’t just be a one-and-done series for some of these characters.

The details about how the new versions of Batman, Superman, and other superheroes in Infinite Frontier will come together is currently unknown at the moment, but readers should be incredibly excited about DC’s future. With the new refresh, DC is entering a new era bringing the best of both old and new characters together in what’s sure to be an absolutely stellar one-shot and beyond. Infinite Frontier begins on March 2, 2021.
