At San Diego Comic-Con, DC Comics revealed that the currently ongoing Dark Crisis event is actually a secret sequel to Crisis on Infinite Earths, as the title was renamed Dark Crisis on Infinite Earths. The shocking twist means that the cosmic chaos occurring in the miniseries has been significantly increased as the greatest heroes on Earth’s battle to take down Pariah and the Great Darkness could result in the universe changing for good. To emphasize the challenge ahead, new cover art by Ariel Colon for Dark Crisis on Infinite Earths #5 reveals that even the Anti-Monitor is in trouble against the pending doom.

In a brand new look at Dark Crisis on Infinite Earths #5 from DC Comics, the story will see Pariah winning and unleashing his Dark Army on the world. However, as the epic war breaks out at the Hall of Justice, heroes in the worlds without a Justice League will return with a potential member being lost “forever.” In epic new cover art for the issue by Ariel Colon (1:25 variant) for the comic, one of the strongest villains in DC Comics history, the Anti-Monitor, who was the main villain during the original Crisis on Infinite Earths, returns. But, the villain seems to have met his match, as he gets tortured by a skeleton-like figure as the cosmos break behind them.

DC’s Most Powerful Villain Finally Meets His Match in Dark Crisis

It’s quite an intense cover art from Ariel Colon, as it seems Pariah and his Dark Army have somehow gained enough power to take out the returning Anti-Monitor – which means the heroes have an uphill battle in defeating the supervillain and his dark army. Check out the synopsis for the issue below.

WAR AT THE HALL OF JUSTICE! After the shocking events of the last issue, Pariah has won. And now his Dark Army is poised for the invasion of our world. It’s up to the Titans to rally the remaining heroes to defeat Deathstroke’s ever-growing forces and avert total destruction! An epic war starts on the steps of the Hall of Justice, and only a miracle could help the heroes now. But all hope is not lost, as the worlds without a Justice League have begun to loosen their grip…but can the heroes return to Earth if it means one member of the Justice League could be lost forever?

The Anti-Monitor’s current status in the DC Universe is largely unknown, as he was last seen during the events of Death Metal. However, the cosmic beings’ return is about to throw the DC Universe into further chaos as Pariah, and the Dark Army seem eager to shape the Multiverse in their image without the villain’s help. Readers can see Anti-Monitor make his surprise return in Dark Crisis on Infinite Earths #5 by DC Comics, which arrives in comic book stores on October 4th, 2022.
