DC’s Infinite Frontier is Only the Beginning of Something Much Bigger

DC Comics‘ new Infinite Frontier miniseries is just the beginning of something much bigger. Back in March, fans were lead to believe that Infinite Frontier #0 was the only major issue coming from the DC event. However, shortly afterwards, the new miniseries for June was announced. It will pick up from where the one-shot issue left off, exploring the newly formed omniverse further and the Darkseid of it all.

Joshua Williamson is taking lead behind most of the overall plotting of the Infinite Frontier era, planning where all DC’s individual books will collide once again. Naturally, he is one of the writers on the upcoming Infinite Frontier miniseries. Additionally, Williamson is working on the new Robin series which he claims will link to another unannounced book. It’s clear that DC Comics has a grander plan than what has been revealed as of now.

The Infinite Frontier miniseries by Joshua Williamson, Xermanico, and Mitch Gerads will debut with issue one on June 22. In an interview on John Siuntres’ YouTube podcast, transcribed by Bleeding Cool, Williamson revealed some major new developments about DC’s future. The Infinite Frontier six-issue miniseries is described by Williamson as “Act One of something else that we’re doing,” which will apparently lead onto a second act later this year. Act Two will detail the aftermath of the miniseries’ conclusion. It’s likely that DC could continue the issue count, however, it’s possible it may be titled something entirely different. It’s all dependent on the way events play out.

Next year, things are looking even bigger for DC Comics as Williamson confirms an “Act Three” is coming. “It all comes together in one big crazy thing.” The third part of Williamson’s three act story will culminate everything that’s happened since Infinite Frontier #0. Also, it’s been described as one of the “biggest” stories that he’s ever written. It’s already been mapped out, but writing will begin in July in preparation for a release next year. With most of it plotted out, Williamson has been informing other writers about his plans for Infinite Frontier‘s second and third act, so that they somehow link into DC’s bigger overarching story.

Infinite Frontier #1 will begin the first act of Williamson’s big plans for DC Comics. This year has already been huge as DC Comics kicked off the year with their line-wide event Future State, shortly followed by Infinite Frontier #0. Since then, all of its main continuity series have been dealing with the ramifications of its events. Fans can get excited as even bigger things are coming! Could Darkseid just be the start of all of this? What could be bigger than what’s already been teased?
