DC’s Green Lanterns Could’ve Stopped Thanos in Seconds

In Marvel Comics, Thanos is an ultimate villain who needs no introduction, but when it comes to DC Comics powerhouses, the Green Lantern Corps is a group of beings who are so powerful that they could easily stop Thanos dead in his tracks. The Avengers might not have been able to stop the Mad Titan’s infamous snap in comics and the MCU, but equipped with the power to manifest anything and everything they can think of, Green Lanterns wouldn’t have a problem ensuring that Thanos never gets a chance to get off his nefarious plans.

Seen in both epic Marvel Cinematic Universe movies titled Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame, as well as any comic arc where Thanos gets his hands on the overpowered item that is the Infinity Gauntlet, this evil baddie is nigh unstoppable when wielding the full power of the Infinity Stones. Often using it against any number of Marvel heroes to fulfill Thanos’ immoral desires, the Infinity Gauntlet is an object that’s taken seriously in comics and film to a point that even the slight mention of its name sends chills down people’s spines.

Capable of giving the user a boost of power, the ability to alter reality, time, space, and more, Thanos acquiring the Infinity Gauntlet is never a good thing and is something that the Avengers need to utilize their combined strength and skills to combat. Yet when it comes to prying the weapon from Thanos’ hands before he has a chance to make use of it, Marvel’s mightiest — especially in the MCU — seem to always have a hard time stealing it away from the guy. Enter the Green Lantern Corps.

Harnessing the jade-tinged willpower wavelength of the Emotional Spectrum, Green Lanterns can create powerful emerald constructs that barely need to be aimed or even used close to a bad guy to employ effectively. Furthermore, Green Lanterns can fly and are skilled in combat outside of their overpowered abilities, giving them an upper hand in a battle against a being that uses brute force frequently.

From Captain Marvel grappling Thanos in the movies, to Iron Man making custom tech to stop him from closing his fist and even steal the Stones themselves, Green Lanterns could easily manifest any number of highly efficient and similar constructs to help stop Thanos in seconds. Either constructing something in the palm of his hand to prevent him from using the Gauntlet, effortlessly pulling the Stones from his grip, or even tearing the weapon from Thanos’ hand altogether, Green Lantern constructs are so strong that if Iron Man’s armor can take the brunt of a Thanos attack, their powers are more than capable of stopping him entirely.

Coupling these thoughts with the fact that there are so many Lanterns across the cosmos to call into battle to a point that Thanos would be overwhelmed immediately, to the idea that the Corps has taken on the equally as overpowered Superboy-Prime and imprisoned him for good, Green Lanterns are capable of doing far more against Thanos than most Avengers combined. Thanos and the Green Lantern Corps may never meet in comics or films, so the Mad Titan can rest easy knowing he won’t be easily stopped anytime soon.
