DC still has two Justice League movies to release in 2024, and they serve as a great introduction to a hero that will appear in James Gunn’s Superman: Legacy next year. The last live-action movie for DC’s premiere team was 2017’s Justice League, with Max releasing director Zack Snyder’s cut of the film in 2021. Gunn has yet to announce a Justice League project for the new DC Universe, whose first movie will be 2025’s Superman: Legacy; however, that does not mean that the team will not be appearing on-screen in the meantime.
While Joker: Folie à Deux is DC’s only live-action movie in 2024, DC Studios has a few animated films slated to arrive this year. In January, Justice League: Crisis on Infinite Earths – Part One was released. The film was only the first project in a three-part story that will serve to conclude DC’s animated Tomorrowverse continuity before Gunn’s DCU starts. With another two entries in the trilogy set to arrive in 2024, DC’s Justice League: Crisis on Infinite Earths movies could set the stage for one of Superman: Legacy‘s announced heroes.

Mister Terrific will be one of the multiple heroes who will share the screen with David Corenswet’s Man of Steel in Superman: Legacy. X-Men: First Class‘ Edi Gathegi will play Mister Terrific in the DCU, and while the character’s debut in Superman: Legacy does not arrive, fans who are not familiar with the hero can get introduced to him in the Justice League: Crisis on Infinite Earths trilogy. Making his debut in Part One, Mister Terrific appears in a new Part Two clip shared by IGN.
Besides Corenswet’s Superman, the DCU’s first movie will also include Mister Terrific, Hawkgirl, Metamorpho, and the Green Lantern Guy Gardner. Of those heroes, Mister Terrific and Metamorpho are the least known, so the Michael Holt version of Mister Terrific — the same one Gathegi will play — appearing in DC’s animated Justice League: Crisis on Infinite Earths trilogy could help make the hero a more popular name among fans. Mister Terrific’s biggest exposure to this day was in Arrow; however, that version of the character was not the most accurate to how the hero is in the comics.

Mister Terrific is one of DC’s smartest characters, with his cryptic nature making him difficult to read — even by characters like Batman. With Gathegi set to play Michael Holt in Superman: Legacy, the DCU will get the chance to develop a character who has enormous potential but is not well-known right from its first project. With Gunn having said on social media that he is excited for fans to see Mister Terrific in Superman: Legacy, he is likely to be one of the movie’s standouts, perhaps even setting him up to lead his own DCU team — The Terrifics.
