DCEU: Every Important Vehicle From The Movies, Ranked

DCEU: Every Important Vehicle From The Movies, Ranked

Like the comics they’re based on, the DC Extended Universe features a lot of vehicles (most of which were created and used by Bruce Wayne) that don’t yet exist in the real world. Some of them are modified designs that are ripped straight from the comics, some are upgraded from previous adaptations, and others are original concepts and designs made solely for this universe.

While the majority of the vehicles are only shown once or twice before never being seen again, all of them had different but important roles in the franchise, and they all managed to look great on screen too.

Manta-Sub

DCEU: Every Important Vehicle From The Movies, Ranked

The Manta-Sub was an advanced submarine that Black Manta and his father, Jesse Kane, stole from the navy to use on their pirating expeditions in Aquaman.

The ship, which is shaped like a Manta ray, is capable of traveling at incredibly high speeds, has a Gatling gun in the front of it, and is undetectable by sonar. It’s also where David made the updates to his diving suit using the Atlantean technology he got from King Orm before taking on Aquaman.

Huntress’ Motorcycle

Huntress rides Her Motorcycle Birds Of Prey

Huntress’ motocrycle is a 2020 Triumph Street Triple RS that serves as the primary mode of transport for Helena Bertinelli in Birds of Prey as she sought out revenge on the people that murdered her family.

She used it to travel to the Booby Trap, the abandoned funhouse in Gotham City that served as a hideout for Harley Quinn and the Joker, to kill Victor Zsasz for his role in the massacre. She then used it later to pull Harley along on her roller skates so that they could chase after Black Mask who had taken Cassandra Cain.

Apokoliptian Warship

Steppenwolf Standing In Front Of Apokolips Warships and Apokoliptian Army From Justice League

Apokoliptian warships were the vessels owned and used by Steppenwolf and Darkseid to carry their armies during their first attempted invasion of Earth thousands of years ago. However, the ships and the Apokoliptians retreated when they discovered that the army waiting for them was too strong for them to handle.

While they did appear in Justice League, they first appeared during the Knightmare Bruce experienced in Batman V. Superman when he saw a dystopian future version of Earth under Darkseid and Superman’s rule.

Knightcrawler

Batman Standing In Front of the KnightCrawler Vehicle With It's Doors Open

The Knightcrawler was a vehicle with four wall-piercing and wall-climbing legs. It was designed by Thomas Wayne and created by Wayne Technologies to get military contracts, but was later repurposed by Bruce. It debuted in Justice League when Bruce used it to transport the team under Gotham Harbor to help the kidnapped STAR Labs employees.

While it worked well against the parademons, it was ineffective against Steppenwolf himself, as he easily sliced it in two with his Electro-axe. Cyborg was able to retake control of the vehicle using his technology manipulation powers and attempted to fire missiles at Steppenwolf, causing the tunnel to be flooded and the vehicle to be abandoned.

Batwing

Batman Flying the Batwing Jet Over Gotham City From Batman V Superman

The Batwing is Batman’s personal aircraft that was first used in Batman V. Superman: Dawn of Justice when he flies to rescue Martha Kent from Lex’s men, and then later during the fight against Doomsday when he attempted to lure the creature back to the Kryptonite spear.

In addition to the two Gatling guns on the front of the jet, it has several high-tech features such as thermal imaging which lets him locate opponents before even entering a building and can be remotely piloted from the Batcave, allowing Alfred to take over the controls even after Bruce has exited it. It was damaged when it was shot out of the sky by one of Doomsday’s optic heat blasts, but does briefly appear in Justice League.

Black Zero

Black Zero Ship With Beam And Debris Hovering Around It Over Metropolis From Man Of Steel

The Black Zero was a prison created by Superman’s father, Jor-El, to transport criminals to the Phantom Zone. After their failed coup, it was used to hold General Zod and the members of his army, the Sword of Rao, but later became their command ship after the explosion of Krypton freed them from the Zone.

A world engine, a device used to terraform planets, was added to the vessel after one was discovered on Daxam. The crew was then alerted by the beacon of Kal-El’s starcraft, leading them to Earth with them using several of the Black Zero’s dropships to try and find the Kryptonian codex. The Black Zero was then positioned over Metropolis so that it could start to turn Earth into a new Krypton using an anti-gravity beam. It was ultimately destroyed when Lois Lane and Colonel Hardy used Kal-El’s starcraft to destabilize the beam and create a singularity that sucked everything, including the Black Zero, inside it.

Batmobile

Armored Batmobile With Gun On The Front From The DCEU

The Batmobile is Batman’s most iconic vehicle, appearing in every DCEU movie he’s been in, and is his main mode of transportation while fighting crime. The car is essentially a tank with a machine gun mounted to the front of it and a harpoon launcher capable of dragging other vehicles along attached in the back, making it extremely durable.

He used it to apprehend Harley Quinn after chasing her and Joker for the murder of Monster T in Suicide Squad, in addition to chasing Anatoli Knyazev and his men for the piece of Kryptonite in Batman V. Superman. It was temporarily damaged when he crashed into Superman but was later repaired so that it could be used in the battle against Steppenwolf in Justice League.

Kal-El’s Starcraft

Kal-El's Ship With

The starcraft was the pod created by Jor-El after he and his wife, Lara Lor-Van, decided to send their son to Earth so that he could escape the planet’s inevitable destruction and continue the Kryptonian race. The pod successfully made it to the planet and landed in Smallville, Kansas where it was discovered by Jonathan and Martha Kent, who adopted Kal-El, renaming him Clark. The pod was then hidden beneath the floor of the barn on their farm where it remained until Clark was 13 and Jonathan began telling him more about his past.

Decades later, during his attack on Earth, General Zod came looking for the craft, believing that it had the Growth Codex, the genetic device necessary to continue the Kryptonian race. The pod was destroyed along with the Black Zero when it was used to create the singularity that sucked up the Black Zero.

Scout Ship 0344

Superman enters the Fortress of Solitude in Man of Steel

Scout Ship 0344, also known as the Fortress of Solitude, was a Kryptonian vessel that crash-landed on Earth over 20,000 years ago before being discovered by NASA in Man of Steel. Clark Kent eventually found the ship and was greeted by an AI version of his father, Jor-El, who explained the history of Krypton and why he was sent to Earth.

However, the reactivation of the ship sent out a distress signal, causing it to be briefly highjacked by Commander Zod who wanted to use it to terraform Earth. And, using his resources and government connections, Lex was able to gain access to the ship which is where he performed the ritual experiment that led to the creation of the creature known as Doomsday using Zod’s body in Batman V. Superman. It was accessed once again in Zack Snyder’s Justice League when the team used it to bring Superman back from the dead with one of the Motherboxes they had acquired.

Flying Fox

Flying Fox Rising From the Water In Justice League

The Flying Fox is a troop carrier built by Bruce Wayne to transport him and the rest of the team to Pozharnov, Russia in Zack Snyder’s Justice League.

The aircraft, which is extremely large and has three stories’ worth of space, was created and held in the Wayne Aerospace Hangar. In addition to carrying the team, the aircraft also held the Batmobile when it wasn’t in use and helped transport it to the battle as well.
