DC Legends Of Tomorrow: The 10 Best Characters Who Appeared In Only One Episode

DC Legends Of Tomorrow: The 10 Best Characters Who Appeared In Only One Episode

DC’s Legends of Tomorrow has just returned from its winter hiatus, and with the second half of the seventh season comes a new cast of side characters to meet. When traveling through time, it’s inevitable to come across some interesting individuals and Legends of Tomorrow takes full advantage of this by introducing new supporting characters each week, as the Legends stumble their way between different historical events. Among these characters the Legends have met along the way, there are lots who have been brought back for multiple episodes, like the members of the Justice Society of America and the various other heroes and villains of the Arrowverse.

However, there are a select few Legends of Tomorrow side characters who have had only a single adventure with the Legends. Each of those characters has their own uniquely memorable one-off appearance that makes them worthy of reminiscing about.

Eve Baxter | S1 E7 “Marooned”

DC Legends Of Tomorrow: The 10 Best Characters Who Appeared In Only One Episode

Appearing in Season 1 Episode 7 “Marooned”, Eve Baxter is captain of the time ship Acheron and a member of the Time Masters. Despite not being fond of Rip Hunter, she changes her tone when Rip and the Legends save her from time pirates. Eve is based on a DC comics character, Bonnie Baxter who is also an ally of Rip Hunter and a member of the Time Masters.

The tension at the beginning between Eve and Rip provides an interesting look into the Time Masters outside of what Rip had already shared with the Legends. Becoming an ally and friend of the Legends and being one of the few Time Masters not secretly involved with Vandal Savage’s plot, Eve’s one adventure with the Legends was short-lived but memorable nonetheless.

P.T. Barnum | S3 E2 “Freakshow”

The Legends in P.T. Barnum in Legends of Tomorrow

The real-life circus entertainer, P.T. Barnum was brought to life by Billy Zane in this Season 3 episode. Kidnapping and attempting to use Ray and Jax as his latest circus act, P.T. Barnum is a fun and cartoony villain-of-the-week for the Legends. Being a famous historical figure isn’t the only reason P.T. Barnum’s solo adventure with the Legends was enjoyable.

Zane’s performance gives this character that extra slimy showman quality which made him an unforgettable one-off Legends villain. Without any superpowers or fancy technology, P.T. Barnum was able to capture two of the Legends, making his appearance one of the most memorable to have only shown up in one episode.

Elvis Presley | S3 E14 “Amazing Grace”

Elvis Presley singing into a microphone in Legends of Tomorrow

The King of Rock and Roll himself is visited by the Legends thanks to the Death Totem. Unintentionally raising the ghosts of the dead, Elvis has to use the power of his voice to restore order to the chaos he and the Legends created. Joining other music icons throughout history who the Legends have run into, Elvis’ solo adventure with the Legends is as emotional as it is memorable.

The heartfelt performance from Luke Bilyk made Elvis’ time with the Legends unforgettable despite the lack of real Elvis songs in the episode. It’s possible the Legends could run into Elvis again and with his superpower to calm the dead with his music, another adventure with this version of Elvis would as memorable as his one and only appearance so far.

George Lucas | S2 E9 “Raiders of the Lost Art”

Rip Hunter and George Lucas on Legends of Tomorrow

As father of Star Wars and Indiana Jones, of course, the Legends at some point had to visit Master Lucas himself. Exploring the fun idea, “What if George Lucas didn’t make Star Wars?”, this episode provides an insight into how Lucas’ movies have affected so many different lives.

Matt Angel made his performance as Lucas unforgettable by having Lucas seem very clumsy and easily frightened which made it easy to believe this Lucas would result to being an insurance salesman after an encounter with Damien Darhk and Malcolm Merlyn. Despite it not being the most accurate depiction, this slightly cowardly portrayal of George Lucas is memorable because of the horror that is a future without Star Wars and Indiana Jones.

Albert Einstein | S2 E1 “Out of Time”

Einstein aboard the Legends' time machine in Legends of Tomorrow

This down-to-earth version of Einstein is saved by the Legends before he is forced by the Nazis to build a nuclear weapon. Einstein after being scorned by Martin Stein, shows a remorseful side, lamenting about his past love life.

This common-sense loving Einstein, played by John Rubinstein, provides an alternative yet funny and memorable take on the well-known, real-life scientist. For helping the Legends fight the Nazis and prevent them from getting an atomic bomb, Einstein’s single adventure leaves anyone wanting more of this unforgettable character.

Baron Krieger | S2 E2 “The Justice Society of America”

Super Krieger in Legends of Tomorrow

Baron Krieger also known as Captain Nazi in comics, uses Eobard Thawne’s “super-serum” to become a super-powered problem for the Legends. Cold and manipulative, Krieger doesn’t shy away from the dirty work.

Despite his performance of a typical Nazi character, Baron Krieger’s transformation to “Super-Krieger”, made his appearance memorable for being the villain the JLA and Legends team up to defeat and because his character is a fun Easter egg from the comics.

Dion / Dionysus | S5 E12 “Freaks and Greeks”

Dion looking serious in Legends of Tomorrow

The original Greek god/party-boy, Dion or Dionysus gives the Legends a taste of college fraternity life. Dion tricks Nate into sharing their true intentions which leads to a beer-pong match between him and Sara Lance.

Drew Ray Tanner did a great job bringing this Greek party god to life, especially with Dion’s interactions with the Legends. Charming, fun-loving, and only slightly too fratboy-ish, Dion’s performance in this episode is memorable for getting the Legends to let loose and providing more insights into Charlie’s past. Dion was a great character and it would be great for him to have another adventure with the Legends.

Masako Yamashiro | S2 E3 “Shogan”

Masako looking serious in Legends of Tomorrow

Masako Yamashiro (Mei Melancon), is kind, brave, and a genuinely good person. After saving Nate, she agrees to help the Legends in their mission and ends up saving Ray Palmer as well. Saving two of the Legends makes you a Legend and Masako Yamashiro clearly fills the bill.

Masako’s skills with a katana, romance with Steel and all-around toughness made her short, one-episode adventure with the Legends unforgettable. Despite her romance with Nate being short, it still helped make her one of the most memorable one-off characters, for being one of the few women Nate didn’t invite to join him on the Waverider.

Cassandra Savage | S1 E13 “Leviathan”

Cassandra Savage in Legends of Tomorrow

As the daughter of Vandal Savage, Cassandra is a loyal soldier to her father. However, when she learns that it was her father who had been responsible for her mother’s death, she turns and joins the Legends to defeat Vandal.

Jessica Sipos gives an interesting and compelling performance as Savage in one of the best Legends of Tomorrow episodes from the first season. She and Leonard Snart’s bonding chat about their not-so-perfect fathers is what made this character so unforgettable, for her ability to get Snart to open up. And her eventual change of heart makes her one of the more memorable one-off characters to meet the Legends. Though she hasn’t been seen since the first season it’s possible we could see her again in the future.

Buddy | S6 E11 “The Final Frame”

Buddy talking to someone in Legends of Tomorrow

As owner of the space bowling alley, Galaxy Lanes, Buddy welcomes and helps the Legends when they find themselves in a bowling match with the Earth at stake. Buddy is the kind, elderly business owner that everyone wishes they had in their town.

His wise advice and calming demeanor made Buddy stand out as the best character to appear in only one episode. Between helping the Legends loosen up and thus helping save the Earth from becoming a bowling ball in Mike the Strike’s collection, Alvin Sanders’ performance as Buddy is truly memorable. Having left Buddy with control over Galaxy Lanes, his floating bowling alley, it’s possible the Legends run into him again one day in future episodes.
