DBS: Why Broly Would Be on Beerus’ Planet in Super Hero

It appears that the Legendary Super Saiyan will be paying a visit to the planet occupied by Beerus and Whis in Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero. The residence of Universe 7’s God of Destruction has no confirmed name but has begun to develop a regular presence in the Dragon Ball Super anime. For a long time now, Goku and Vegeta have been using it as a training ground where they practice with Whis.

Trailers for Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero indicate that at least a few of the movie’s scenes will take place on Beerus’ planet. And curiously enough, the villain of Dragon Ball Super: Broly is believed to be one of its guests this time around. In an easy-to-miss shot in the first trailer, Broly could be glimpsed fighting Goku. The color of the sky and the look of the environment provide evidence for this place being Beerus’ planet. What’s not clear though, is what purpose Broly will serve in Super Hero’s story. There aren’t many threats in the Dragon Ball universe that would be able to stand up to Broly’s unbridled power, especially since it took Super Saiyan Blue Gogeta for him to be brought down.

It’s likely that his return in Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero can be explained by Broly’s ending. During a brief visit to Broly’s new home, Goku expressed an interest in fighting with him again. The shot of Goku battling Broly in Super Hero’s trailer suggests that the former will get the rematch he wants. The notion of it happening on Beerus’ planet points to it being a friendly contest that’ll factor into Goku’s training in some way. After all, this is where Goku and Vegeta have been doing most of their sparring in recent years. Looking at how powerful Broly is, it makes sense that he’d be the perfect metric for Goku and Vegeta to use when measuring their gains. Goku and Vegeta could have a match with Broly on Beerus’ planet to see how far they’ve come.

Fighting with Goku (and possibly Vegeta) on Beerus’ planet could be extremely beneficial to Broly as well. As a lonely character prone to uncontrollable bouts of rage, Broly stands to learn a lot from spending time with the two of them. If he were to acquire a better sense of self-control, Broly would have the potential to be a formidable ally to the Z-Warriors in Dragon Ball’s future.

That being said, Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero may be a bit too early for Broly to make that leap. So far, it looks like Gohan and Piccolo will be the heroes who have to fight the Red Ribbon Army in the movie. Goku and Vegeta could of course join in the fight, but they may not end up bringing Broly along with them. Instead, Broly’s role could just be a cameo that calls back to the events of the last film and sheds light on Goku and Vegeta’s progress. Broly receiving more of the spotlight is a moment that may be reserved for later installments.
