David Tennant’s Doctor Who & Good Omens Characters Meet In Art, Fulfilling His Doctor’s Dream

David Tennant’s characters from Doctor Who and Good Omens have finally met in a new piece of crossover fan art. Two of the actor’s most prominent roles are in these legendary British properties, beginning when he stepped into the role of the Tenth Doctor after Christopher Eccleston left the reboot of the long-running sci-fi show Doctor Who in 2005. Now he also stars in Good Omens, Prime Video’s adaptation of Neil Gaiman and Terry Pratchett’s novel of the same name, as the demon Crowley.

On Instagram, artist Evan recently shared a sketch of Doctor Who‘s Tenth Doctor and Good Omens‘ Crowley meeting.

The image shows The Doctor pointing excitedly at Crowley’s red hair and proclaiming “HAH! Ginger!” This is a reference to the fact that, when Eccleston’s Doctor regenerated into Tennant’s Doctor, he eagerly asked his companion Rose Tyler if his new form had ginger hair.

Doctor Who and Good Omens are two of the biggest roles of Tennant’s career. In fact, his status as one of sci-fi’s most iconic stars is honored by a variety of Doctor Who references in Good Omens itself. However, the difference between the noble Doctor and the antiheroic Crowley highlights just how much range David Tennant has.

In between his roles in both series, Tennant has shown off his ability to portray a wide variety of characters. This includes his chilling turn as the Jessica Jones villain Kilgrave, who has the power to control people’s minds. However, Tennant has also revealed an ability to blend good and bad traits into complicated portrayals like his performance as the Las Vegas magician Peter Vincent in the 2011 Fright Night remake, a cowardly showboat who eventually reveals his heart of gold.

The full spectrum between Crowley and The Doctor has been explored time and again throughout his career. This ability is what has allowed David Tennant to hold roles in such a wide variety of properties. In addition to his tenure on both Doctor Who and Good Omens, he has also appeared in such varied titles as Harry Potter, The Sandman, Ahsoka, and even DuckTales.
