Between promising to officiate weddings and posing for cheesy high school senior photos, David Harbour is on a roll right now. Hollywood has been in a really bad state of late – and with more and more sexual assault allegations against well known male celebrities popping up every day, we could use a ray of hope to keep us tuning in. Fortunately Harbour, star of Netflix’s Stranger Things and the upcoming Hellboy reboot, is here to save the day.
It’s true, there are plenty of well-meaning, free-spirited Hollywood sweethearts out there. Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson is happy to donate to charitable causes or drop into a hospital ward for a quick visit; he’s an all-around good guy. Bill Murray is something like a mythical creature, bringing his spontaneous ways to the people, dipping in and out of their lives with legendary stories they’ll never forget. Harbour, meanwhile, combines generosity with approachability, taking his charitable acts straight to the fans.

When a young fan asked Harbour how many retweets would be required to get him to appear in her high school senior photos he replied with 25,000 and a unique request: He wanted to sport the school’s sweatshirt and hold a trombone in the photos. The tweet went on to receive over 3,000 more than the required retweets. Naturally, Harbour honored his promised and turned up for the photo shoot, trombone in tow.
Now Harbour is at it again. Should his Stranger Things season 3 schedule allow, he’s promised to become ordained in order to officiate a fan’s upcoming wedding ceremony… provided he gets to read a specially chosen love letter and the first slice of cake is reserved for him. He didn’t even really mind that he was the bride’s second choice after Ed Sheeran. See, he has patience and understanding, too. This time, the tweet agreement requires 125,000 retweets. With over 94,000 in a single day, this one seems like a lock. Harbour will definitely be dining on wedding cake come September.
Harbour’s co-stars are often the recipients of his love and support. His pinned tweet is just a simple run-down of the Stranger Things crew, stating his pride in his castmates. Lovely photos of himself and Stranger Things co-star Millie Bobby Brown are constantly popping up, proving their beautiful onscreen father/daughter relationship comes from the heart.
And, of course, there’s his unabashed love for co-star Joe Keery and his Stranger Things character Steve. Harbour is very proudly #TeamSteve and he doesn’t care who knows it. His Instagram page is listed as a “Joe Keery fan page” and that’s no joke. There may be more photos of Keery on Harbour’s Instagram than Harbour himself. Harbour has a lot of love to give and he isn’t afraid to literally wear his heart on his sleeve.
