What James Gunn Has Said About Superman: Legacy’s Suit

While Corenswet’s Superman suit has yet to be revealed, Gunn has talked about it on social media. Over the past few months, Superman: Legacy‘s director has shared details of the DCU’s Superman costume, ranging from its look to when fans can expect it to be revealed. Gunn has made it clear that it has been just as hard for the Superman: Legacy team to nail down the costume as it has been for Superman fans to agree on what it should look like.

Gunn revealed that hundreds of concept arts for the costume have been made with and without the trunks for Superman: Legacy. Talking about the debate over including the classic trunks as part of Corenswet’s Superman look or not, Gunn said, “You wouldn’t believe the amount of pleading and upset I get based around trunks or no trunks. To me, not the most important aspect of Superman or his story.” It remains to be seen if Corenswet will wear the trunks or not is Superman: Legacy.

As for when the Superman suit will be revealed, that might take a little long. Superman: Legacy will start filming in March. When asked about when Corenswet’s suit would be revealed, Gunn was straight to the point, letting fans know there was a “Zero-point-zero” chance that the costume would be made public before Superman: Legacy started filming. Mid-December 2023, Gunn shared a DCU Superman costume update, saying, “The costume is mostly done but we’re still going back and forth on some elements.” Based on Gunn’s words, Corenswet’s Superman: Legacy suit should be revealed when filming starts in March.
