David Corenswet Gets Bright & Beautiful Superman Costume In Stunning DC Art

David Corenswet has started filming on Superman, and while the actor has yet to appear in costume, stunning DC Universe art teases what his Man of Steel could look like. Recently, James Gunn shared the first peek at Corenswet’s Superman costume. Last year, the director said that the Superman suit would only be revealed to the audience after the upcoming DC movie started filming, which means a full suit reveal is closer than ever.

On Instagram, artist @spdrmnkyxxiii shared a gorgeous take on what Corenswet’s full Superman suit could look like.

Like in Gunn’s tease, the bright-colored Superman costume sports a version of the Kingdom Come-inspired “S” on Corenswet’s chest. With the movie currently filming, more details about Superman‘s story, characters, and suit should be revealed soon.

The DCU’s Man Of Steel Suit Already Has A Key Difference

The biggest difference between Corenswet’s Superman costume and past DC movie versions of the Man of Steel is that the DCU Superman suit is taking inspiration from a comic book. The “S” shield on Corenswet’s Superman suit is inspired by the “Kingdom Come” story from DC Comics, though the movie version of the suit uses the classic red and gold color scheme for the suit instead of Kingdom Come’s red and black. At the end of the Arrowverse’s Crisis on Infinite Earths crossover, Brandon Routh’s Superman sported a similar symbol.

In comparison to Henry Cavill’s Superman suit from the DCEU, it is already easy to spot some changes made by Gunn to Corenswet’s version of the Man of Steel. The DCU Superman suit tease showed that the costume has a seemingly brighter tone than Cavill’s. Adding to that, Corenswet’s Superman costume looks to be made of woven fabric, not the kevlar-like look director Zack Snyder went for with Cavill’s suit.

On Threads, Gunn also confirmed that the textures seen in Corenswet’s Superman suit are real and not imprinted like they were in Cavill’s Superman suit. In relation to older Superman movie suits, Corenswet’s does not look to have the same spandex feel as Christopher Reeve’s or Brandon Routh’s. With filming for Gunn’s Superman underway, a full look at Corenswet in costume as Superman could be coming in the next couple of months.
