Darth Vader Replaces Superman On The Cover Of Action Comics #1

darth vader force powers

First hitting store shelves in 1939, Action Comics #1, by Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster, is a cover image that’s instantly recognizable to DC fans around the globe and is iconic enough that even the most casual of nerds have seen it at least once. Depicting Superman taking out some terrified evildoers by lifting their car clear above his head and wrecking it, this pose encapsulates what makes the character so super, both in the physical and heroic sense and is a representation of superhero culture that Darth Vader doesn’t exactly care to be a part of.

Drawn in the same way Superman is shown on the cover of Action Comics #1, Darth Vader is seen here lifting a smashed Landspeeder high into the air, with a Greedo lookalike, Tusken Raider, and a figure who looks suspiciously like a hooded Obi-Wan Kenobi, fleeing in terror. Adding a few details lifted directly from Action Comics’ cover, like the 10¢ cover price and “No. 1” in the top left corner, fans will also notice that instead of the issue’s June, 1938 cover date, @starwarsphotoshop has changed it to May, 1977, the month and year Star Wars hit theaters.

Darth Vader Shows Off His Strength In Action Comics #1 Fanart

Superman, Jon Stewart, and Wonder Woman are floating in mid-air as the man of steel discards his Clark Kent identity

Darth Vader is nowhere close to being as strong as Superman, but in theory, Vader could use his mastery over his Force abilities to amplify his strength and lift something super heavy if needed, a tactic that’s usually unnecessary as Vader can simply Force push any object or person instead of physically touching them. Darth Vader replacing Superman on the cover of Action Comics #1 is a fun treat for fans of both characters to see, so now it’s up to @starwarsphotoshop to dream up more epic fanart crossovers that are as unique as they are hilarious to see.
