In the image, Vader is more machine than man, as what he looks like underneath his usual armor is showcased. From his legs, left arm, and numerous spots throughout his body, machines have taken over Darth Vader’s previous human parts – as he still holds a lightsaber. While Star Wars fans have seen glimpses of his body without his armor, the image shows how much Vader changed after his fight with Obi-Wan on Mustafar.

The image hammers home an iconic quote from Star Wars: Return of the Jedi when Luke Skywalker tells Obi-Wan there could still be good in Darth Vader. Obi-Wan responds, revealing, “he’s more machine now than man. Twisted and evil.” Stripped down and exposed without his armor proves that Vader has become exactly that.

While it’s not likely that Vader could survive in the form seen in the fantastic fan art, as he needs his armor to protect him and keep his body from being exposed, it’s still incredible to see him stripped down to his true form. Darth Vader was transformed physically and mentally after joining the dark side, with his body becoming more machine than man. The Star Wars fan art shows how robotic the villain is behind his iconic armor.
