The news that the six-minute prologue to The Dark Knight Rises would be screened in front of select IMAX prints of the impending Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol first leaked out in late October 2011. While Warner Bros. confirmed that story a while back, the studio has only now unveiled the official list of IMAX theaters that will be showing the beginning of co-writer/director Christopher Nolan’s highly-anticipated Batman trilogy finale.
Many fans will likely be annoyed to learn that Warner Bros. is sticking to its original plan of releasing the Dark Knight Rises footage exclusively in 70 mm IMAX theaters; everyone who doesn’t live within close vicinity of one of those screens will just have to wait until Summer 2012 to glimpse the prologue in the big big screen format.
