Daredevil’s New Series Breaks One Of His Biggest Rules

Warning! This post contains a PREVIEW for Daredevil #5

In a new preview for Marvel Comics’ Daredevil, Matt Murdock is breaking away from his typical tactics as the Man Without Fear. Having reunited with Elektra’s Daredevil to begin a war with the Hand, the two vigilantes are taking a whole new approach against the dark ninja clan. While Murdock’s Daredevil in particular is normally a solo hero armed only with his heightened senses and billy club, the preview for the next issue of Daredevil reveals the collection of allies he now has (all of whom are receiving some major upgrades).

Having left Hell’s Kitchen in the capable hands of Spider-Man and New York’s new Mayor Luke Cage, Daredevil agreed to join Elektra in a crusade to destroy the Hand once and for all. As such, the primary plan has been to revive the Fist, an ancient and prophesied order capable of ending the ninjas who serve the demon known as the Beast. Kicking things off with a surprise marriage between Daredevil and Elektra as the Fist’s new rulers, they’re now ready to make plans to rebuild the order in earnest after facing the undead souls of the Hand’s victims.

Now, the new preview for Daredevil #5 from Chip Zdarsky and Marco Checchetto reveals the rewards of Matt and Elektra’s new marriage. With Matt having brought Cole North and Foggy Nelson to keep him grounded, both of them now have increased agility, speed, and strength along with the rest of the Fist’s new members. Likewise, Matt declares his intention to recruit even more to the new order, continuing the massive deviation from his usual modus operandi as a solo vigilante. Here are the preview pages and synopsis for the upcoming issue:

Daredevil and Elektra Are Building Their New Army

  • DAREDEVIL #5
  • THE RED FIST SAGA, PART 5 After the biggest change to befall Matt Murdock in decades in the pages of DAREDEVIL #4, Matt Murdock and Elektra Natchios embark on establishing a new world order, hand in hand.
  • LEGACY #653

Remarkably, the Fist’s new king and queen will soon have their own super-powered army behind them against the Hand. As funny as it is to see Foggy Nelson of all characters experiencing superpowers, it’s notable that Cole has his concerns (and openly voices them to Matt). Likewise, Matt and Elektra’s army will also be facing Frank Castle’s Punisher who has become the Hand’s new leader as their “Hand of the Beast”.

At any rate, it’s pretty intriguing that Daredevil is entering this brand-new territory, having surrounded himself with more than a few allies and superpowers. That being said, it’s clear he’s going to need all the help he can get considering the threat and new powers of the Punisher combined with the dark resurrection powers of the Hand itself. The full Daredevil #5 releases on November 23rd.
