Daredevil & Kingpin’s Next MCU Appearance Revealed

Daredevil & Kingpin’s Next MCU Appearance Revealed

Charlie Cox’s Daredevil and Vincent D’Onofrio’s Kingpin are officially set to appear in the Disney+ series Echo starring Alaqua Cox from Hawkeye. Phase 4 has been a standout for multiple reasons after Marvel Studios finished the Infinity Saga. Not only has Phase 4 been focusing on exploring the Multiverse, but the MCU is getting further fleshed out through Disney+, serving as a secondary home for Marvel Studios’ content. With older heroes having finished their run, newer ones are now getting the chance to be introduced while also helping other established players get their time in the spotlight.

While Marvel Studios is creating their own MCU-based shows, the original Marvel TV series are getting massive recognition throughout Phase 4. Despite having always been tied to the MCU, the films rarely acknowledged Agents of SHIELD, The Defenders franchise, and other Marvel TV shows. However, when it came to Daredevil characters, Phase 4 used both Hawkeye and Spider-Man: No Way Home as vehicles to bring back both Wilson Fisk and Matt Murdock, respectively. While Alaqua Cox’s Echo is set to have her own spin-off, it will also be a massive Daredevil reunion.

After several rumors, it’s finally official as THR has confirmed that Cox and D’Onofrio will be reprising the roles of Daredevil and Kingpin in Echo. This will be the first time the actors have shared the screen since Daredevil season 3, which became the show’s final season after Netflix canceled the Marvel drama. While most plot details are being kept under wraps, Cox’s Daredevil is said to be looking for Krysten Ritter’s Jessica Jones, who was one of his allies on The Defenders. It has yet to be confirmed if Ritter’s character will be appearing in Echo at this point.

Daredevil & Kingpin’s Next MCU Appearance Revealed

It shouldn’t come as too much of a surprise that both Daredevil and Kingpin are being included in Echo. In Wilson’s case, Hawkeye established the bond between Echo and him during season 1 until things took a turn when she learned that Kingpin was responsible for getting her uncle William murdered. Despite shooting him, it was always obvious that Kingpin survived, but has likely lost an eye, just like in the comics. Cox, who got to play Matt Murdock once again in Spider-Man: No Way Home, had a crucial cameo where he served as Peter Parker’s attorney. In previous interviews, Cox stated that he knew exactly where his future MCU appearance would be, which has now been confirmed to be Echo.

Not only will it be exciting to see Echo benefit from the ties the character has with both players in the comics, but Cox and D’Onofrio’s reunion is something many have been waiting to see for years. Daredevil was, without a doubt, one of the strongest television series to come out of Marvel, primarily due to Cox and D’Onofrio’s portrayals of their characters. Even though it has taken longer than it should have, it’s still encouraging to see the MCU finally take advantage of some of their star players from the Marvel TV shows. While it has yet to be confirmed, it seems like a no-brainer that Echo will also help set up Disney+’s Daredevil show that is in the works, which will be a continuation of the Netflix drama. Echo is reportedly set to premiere in 2023, only on Disney+
