Daredevil Comes To Marvel’s Spider-Man In New Mod

Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered players can now bring justice to the open-world streets of New York City as Daredevil thanks to a new mod that reskins Spidey as The Man Without Fear. Four years after Insomniac’s critically-acclaimed Marvel’s Spider-Man first swung onto the PlayStation 4, an updated version titled Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered joined an ever-growing list of formerly Sony-exclusive titles to make the jump onto PC through Steam and the Epic Games Store earlier this month.

Aside from getting to experience the thrills of Marvel’s Spider-Man’s gripping storyline and blistering combat and transversal gameplay on non-PlayStation systems, Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered has also opened the door to a plethora of creative mods. While some modders have stuck to adding long-requested alternate costumes that were left out of the base game like the black Symbiote Suit or Andrew Garfield’s cinematic outfit from The Amazing Spider-Man 2, others go as far as replacing Spidey altogether with other characters from the game like Marvel’s Spider-Man’s tragic version of Doc Ock, the late Stan Lee, or even non-living objects like the gravestone that marks the final resting place of Peter Parker’s beloved Uncle Ben. Now, yet another Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered mod brings in a character that wasn’t even in the base game to begin with, but would feel no less at home in the open-world urban landscape that Insomniac has crafted for its first two blockbuster Marvel action titles.

A Twitter user by the handle of 0uter_H3aven recently shared a few screenshots from a Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered mod that brings none other than Daredevil in as an alternate character skin. This mod, which was uploaded to NexusMods by TheRealiceMage, uses Fortnite’s version of The Man Without Fear (which was added to that particular title in October 2020) to replace Spider-Man, though Daredevil still uses all of Spidey’s web gadgets and combat moves instead of his more traditional Billy Club weapon and sound-based radar sense. There is also a notable glitch that sees Daredevil’s character model become an unrecognizable blur if it moves far away from the player’s camera.

Spider-Man Remastered Mod Is The Closest Thing To An Insomniac Daredevil Game

While Matt Murdock has yet to appear physically in an Insomniac-developed Marvel game, both Marvel’s Spider-Man and Spider-Man: Miles Morales have Easter Eggs that suggest that the blind-attorney-turned-vigilante is already fighting the good fight in the Insomniac Marvel universe. This has left many fans wishing for Daredevil to get the triple-A video game treatment next, especially since his sole gaming outing was a poorly-received GameBoy Advance tie-in to the 2003 Daredevil film. Another, more promising Daredevil game was in development during the PlayStation 2 era, but it was ultimately canceled. This has left fans of The Man Without Fear resorting to mods in existing games like Sifu and Batman: Arkham City to satisfy their martial arts crime-busting needs, even as rumors of a God of War-inspired Daredevil title being in the works continue to circulate the internet.

Meanwhile, while TheRealiceMage’s Daredevil-themed Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered mod isn’t a perfect representation of the classic hero’s abilities, it does come pretty close thanks to Daredevil already being similar to Spider-Man in terms of agility and fighting style. Modders have been altering Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered in interesting ways ever since it launched on PC earlier this month, and the mods themselves are proving to be every bit as entertaining as the epic superhero tale that Insomniac put together for its maiden voyage into the Marvel universe.
