Darcey & Stacey: Season 2 Filming Shuts Down Due To COVID-19 Scare

In episode 6 of Darcey & Stacey, Darcey Silva was informed that the production of season 2 would be shut down due to a COVID-19 scare in her family. Former 90 Day Fiancé star Darcey may have expected the difficulties in her life to end when she got engaged to Georgi Rusev in the season 1 finale. However, Darcey started sensing that Georgi’s closed-off nature reeked of lies and dishonesty. As the Silva sister tried to distract herself from Georgi with her daughter’s sweet 16, Darcey had to stop filming for her spin-off for three whole weeks.

Along with twin sister Stacey Silva, Darcey, who’s 46 years old now, was introduced in season 1 of 90 Day Fiancé: Before the 90 Days, which shot her to fame instantly. Over the years, Darcey dealt with manipulation and heartbreak at the hands of her two infamous exes, Jesse Meester and Tom Brooks. But apart from Stacey, Darcey’s pillars of support through her highs and lows have been her daughters Aniko and Aspen. The fan-favorite teens were 12 and 11 respectively when Darcey started out in 2017. In season 2 of Darcey & Stacey, their reality TV icon mom was all set to celebrate Christmas baby Aniko’s winter wonderland-themed sweet 16.

However, during episode 6 of Darcey & Stacey, Darcey got a call from her father Mike Silva who informed her that the lady who had come to help them set up the party at his house tested positive for COVID-19. “The party can wait,” Darcey declared. Mike and the two girls were feeling fine but had to isolate for 72 hours until they could get tested. A visibly shaken Darcey couldn’t help but worry and pray for her family, who was quarantined while she had to stay in her own apartment. Amidst this, Darcey was told, “Sorry, we have to shut down production,” by a producer as the 90 Day Fiancé star kept asking, “Is this for real?

In her moment of weakness, Darcey reached out to Georgi and asked him to come to Connecticut after leaving him in Virginia after their last argument. Georgi was scared of Darcey’s intentions and admitted he didn’t want to lose her. As soon as he handed her a bouquet of his specialty roses at her apartment, the crew was notified of potential COVID-19 concerns and shut down filming. After three weeks of a halt “due to a potential COVID exposure” the Darcey & Stacey season 2 cast and crew were allowed to resume filming. The break, however, helped Darcey to mend things with Georgi. Her family tested negative and she wanted to celebrate Christmas and Aniko’s birthday with her fiancé.

Most of Darcey’s apprehensions about Georgi grew tenfold after she spoke to his ex-wife Octavia about his past and divorce and believed her blindly. This was amplified by Darcey’s friends telling her about the “American trash” and “when the money’s gone I’m gone” comments supposedly made by Georgi. But Georgi kept saying he never said it, and Darcey, to the relief of many of her supporters, believed him. However, Debbie, Reina, and Stacey don’t seem to be too happy with Georgi, and they could potentially end up creating a bigger rift between the Bulgarian man and the Darcey & Stacey lead as Darcey heads to Turkey for plastic surgery.

Darcey & Stacey airs Mondays at 8 PM ET on TLC.
