Danny Phantom Creator Reacts To Fan-Made 3D CGI Remake Of Show’s Intro

The creator of the beloved Nickelodeon series Danny Phantom reacted to a fan-made 3D remake of the show’s intro. The animated series was created by Butch Hartman and initially aired from 2004 to 2007. Despite only running for three seasons, many fans consider it to be one of the best Nickelodeon shows of all time.

The story of Danny Phantom centers around a teenager named Danny Fenton, who is voiced by David Kaufman. Danny develops superpowers after an accident in his ghost-hunting parents’ laboratory when a Ghost Portal turns him into a hybrid human/ghost. Despite his initial hesitation, Danny eventually embraces his powers to protect his town from various ghosts with evil intentions. Meanwhile, he balances his superpower life with the everyday trials and tribulations of being a teenager with a lot on their plate.

TikTok user and artist Zachary Morawiec recently shared a revamped version of the Nickelodeon show’s iconic intro. Morawiec’s page is filled with innovative mash-ups and recreations that are inspired by classic animated TV shows and characters. The artist transformed the original characters into 3D versions of themselves with a whole lot of CGI animation, much different than the 2D original. The video caught the attention of Hartman on TikTok, who couldn’t help but show support for the creative remake. “Love seeing it in this style,” he wrote on his duet of the TikTok. “So cool!” He’s also seen grooving along to the show’s catchy rap theme song, which he wrote the lyrics for. Hartman captioned his duet post saying, “ABSOLUTELY LOVE THIS!” Check out the post which was also shared by Morawiec on his Twitter account below:

Danny Phantom has remained beloved by fans despite its finale airing over a decade ago. There even was an online petition circulating calling for Nickelodeon to greenlight a remake. Considering Nickelodeon’s recent push to revive its older shows for the Paramount+ streaming app, it doesn’t seem too far-fetched that Danny Phantom would make a comeback. The Fairly OddParents, also created by Hartman, is getting a live-action reboot as is iCarly, so there’s clearly a market for fans looking for a heavy dose of nostalgia with a modern twist.

The fan remake of the intro also opens the opportunity to update the animation for a reboot. While it’s a little jarring at first for those who watched the original 2D version of the 2000s show, it’s definitely up to date with current animated series and films. Only time will tell if Nickelodeon does decide to adhere to fans’ wishes and make a Danny Phantom reboot.
