Daniel Craig Clarifies His Love For James Bond In Emotional NTTD Wrap Video

A new video from the wrap of production on No Time to Die sees Daniel Craig clarifying his love for James Bond with an emotional farewell message. Craig debuted in the role with 2006’s Casino Royale, Eon Productions’ reboot of the action franchise in which a young Bond is starting his career as Agent 007 for MI6 and tasked with bankrupting terrorist financier Le Chiffre in a high-stakes poker game. Despite skepticism from fans regarding his casting, the film would receive rave reviews and become a box office smash, establishing Craig as an international star and securing his position for future films.

Craig would return in 2008’s Quantum of Solace, which continued the story arc from the previous film though saw a more mixed reception from critics and audiences alike. His subsequent film, Skyfall, would prove to be Craig and the franchise’s biggest hit yet, becoming the first and only James Bond film to break $1 billion at the global box office while also scoring two Emmy and Academy awards. After another more mixed reception with 2015’s Spectre and initially declaring himself done with the role, Craig is stepping into the suit one more time for No Time to Die, set to conclude the story arc put into motion with Casino Royale and deliver a proper conclusion for Craig’s iteration of the iconic spy.

With just a few weeks remaining until the film’s release, Filmthusiast has shared a video from the set of No Time to Die. The video sees Craig delivering an emotional farewell speech to his crew, clarifying his love for working with them on all five films and for the character itself. See Craig’s tearful speech below:

The new wrap video may not be the first time fans have seen Craig express his gratitude to his crew after video from the official wrap party showed him delivering a similar sentiment to the group, but it’s sure to get the waterworks going for those who have grown attached to the star during his tenure as Bond. Despite his well-reported hesitations to return to the franchise, Craig’s acknowledgment of those comments and dismissal of them proves a very touching moment, especially given how the films opened the doors for him to star in everything from the animated blockbuster The Adventures of Tintin to the whodunnit comedy Knives Out. Realizing their time as Bond was coming to an end is a moment anyone would surely get emotional with, but given Craig’s tenure was frequently driven by his desire to prove naysayers wrong, it’s all the more understandable to see him get choked up.

It is interesting to note that Craig expresses his love for every single second of No Time to Die, seemingly more so than its predecessors. While this could be explained as an in-the-moment emotional response to his departure, the fact Craig’s Bond is one of the only actors to see their portrayal given a proper conclusion and the trailers teasing an emotional one at that, it should build some extra anticipation for audiences eager to see how it ends. The wait is almost over as No Time to Die hits theaters on October 8.
